Floating Courtyard

This is the week from hell....with vacation time.This all started yesterday, I was at work by 5 o'clock letting grave go home and setting up for the day. I had to train yet another idiot(and I mean idiot) which means the I had twice the amount of work to do that day. He showed up late, and the whole time he was there he just talked about pot. A brand new job, were he had no clue who I was and he just talked about pot. The Idiot didn't even notice the everything he said was on camera and being viewed in the bosses office.

So I sent him packing and I doubt we will ask him back. But the kid was like a bad omen or something because the day only got worse. The water company came to let us (the hotel I work at) know that in 11 days we have used 400,500 gallons of water (about 8 Olympic sized swimming pools) which is impossible for a hotel with only 50 rooms.

So Gerri and Gene (my boss) start messing with the cut off values to try and find the leak. While I man the front desk and explain to are customers why they have no water. Of course it didn't go very well and about this time we discover are pools draining, to were we have no idea. Gerri and Gene give up in finding it and go to get lunch.

They were gone a hole five min when the housekeeper ran to the front desk to let me know that are court yard was flooding, and as weird as this sounds floating. I thought she was being dramatic, of course i was wrong.

I locked up the desk and walk in back and one corner of the courtyard had a puddle and you can see water bubbling up, but other then that everything was dry. I jump over the puddle to the "dry" rocks on the other side and sink up to my ankles.

Apparently in AZ people seem to think weeds can still survive so when your yard is landscaped they put a black tarp like thing under the rocks. So it was 3 o clock and are entire courtyard was floating like a dam boat.

I called in my relief and had her come and cover the desk, while Gerri, Gene, and I tried to dig up the leak. Problem with that was that any break in the tarp, water would shoot out of it. So theirs the three of us in business attire, Gerri and I in heels, digging were ever water came out trying to find the leak.

After about an hour of that Gene goes to dig and his shovel goes all of the way into the ground and I mean all the way. We had found are self's a sink hole that went at least 4 feet deep and 4 feet wide ( 4 feet was the length of the shovel and it did not touch the end).

We were in major trouble and we still haven't found the leak or where the swimming pool was drain from (Obviously both were in the courtyard but we couldn't find were in the court yard) but that no longer matter because now are courtyard was to dangerous to be around.

My relief is an idiot, and we knew that from the start (that's the reason my boss had me move from Oregon to Arizona, because she couldn't find any one with a brain) so we sent her home. I took over the desk and started calling all of are guest and making other arrangements for them. While Gerri started calling all of are employees to let them know we were shutting down, and no one need to come to work.

It was 7 o'clock I was covered in mud, dealt with pissed off customers, Idiot coworkers, and still hadn't eaten. We had three customers who tried to refuse to leave, so we spent 2 hours dealing with that. So at 9 o'clock I finally got to go home, and I get till at least Wednesday off, of course not paid.

I have worked in a dozen hotels for the last 3 years, I have dealt with some of the weirdest things you can imagine, but never have I had to deal with the shit that comes up here. The dam hotels cursed or something.

Either way I now have to try and find a second job (something else I never have had to do) because between are paychecks being late and the hotel being closed down for an unknown time, I have no idea how I'm going to pay rent. So YAY for me
