my super weird ass morning

so, I am laying in bed this morning at maybe 4:15, 4:30, sleeping peacefully. and then I'm sort of slowly waking up, going...wait...is someone knocking on my door?
not quite.
someone was knocking on the outside wall of my house. right above the headboard for my bed. and laughing maniacally. and calling for help.
freaked me out. so I call the police, because really...I'm a woman, I live alone, and there is someone pounding on the wall of my house. and of course all of the damn windows are open, and I live on the first floor. smart, sarah. real smart.
so this goes on for about 10 minutes before the cops get there...I'm frantically trying to get dressed in the dark and find my cell phone so I can call my landlord (who lives upstairs and goes to work ungodly early in the morning) and tell him not to come downstairs. and I can't find my glasses. I am blind without my glasses, especially in the dark.
so finally, the cops show up. I stayed in the house until I was sure that they had ahold of the guy...turns out, it was a guy who has alzheimers that has been missing from the nursing home down the street for a couple of days - he didn't have id, but the neighborhood cops had a picture, so they figured out pretty fast who he was.
by this point, there are three police cars and an ambulance in my driveway. It's not quite 5am.
and I remember, as the police come knock on my door to tell me that everyhting is ok, that I have left certain incriminating items in plain sight...so I amswered the door to five cops at 5am with paraphenalia in my pocket because a guy was pounding on the outside wall of my house.
my landlord slept through it all.
sometimes I think I live in bizarro world.
not quite.

it makes me sad acutally. he kept talking about his father (the guy is in his 80s) and asking the cops about going fishing...and he was pretty near hypothermic...so I guess the situaiton is funny, but the root cause isn't to me.

yeah alzheimers is a really scary thing. i used to work at a casino, this guy who had alzheimers would come in all the time (his wife would just drop him off :/ ) and he would forget where/who he was, argue about money he never had, yell at machines and things of the sort. makes me scared that someday i might end up like that.

hmm, yea, I guess the only reason I find it funny is because the only instance of ever seeing someone who has Alzheimer's has been in comedies..
Would probably be a lot more real to me if someone I knew had it.. sry if I offended :/ |

bizzaro world sounds about like it but sounds to me like you saved the guys life.
The Alzheimer's part isn't funny but I can see you stuffing stuff in your pocket to answer the door for cops. I'd of freaked out. |

nah alex, you're cool. Alzheimer's is something that I think it's really difficult to understand if you haven't dealt with it in person...
