I would definitely say learn crossers first and have them down well before trying SJs. You need to be very comfortable with controlling your sticks with your arms crossed and also being able to turn in this position. I did a tutorial on crossers and straightjackets http://www.genxglow.com/f13/basic-cr...tutorial-1948/
Hope that helps ya...as for the full cross straightjacket (where your arms are crossed like you would if you were just standing there with your arms 'crossed'), I can't help you with that...don't know it, too hard to transition into/out of for fire performances so I never really learned it.

i was about to post a thread in the glowticking discussion forum asking how to do a REAL straightjacket since all we have here are crossers n huggys.

butttttt i guess im glad i stumbled onto this thread lol, even tho i had already seen this vid it made me all warm inside to know that others know what a real straightjacket is.

nevertheless, i was gonna post to ask if anyone had any tips or anythin for the move. i have the transition into it and out of it, but my only problem is once im in it i can only do like 2 rotations then i lose it every time.

Real straight jackets are hard to do, you cant put your arms in the position and start to get the feel you have to be able to get into it, The key to this is isolations. I can try to make a tutorial for that, but they are hard to get smooth enough to use in a show and unless you are a poi expert and know how hard i actuly pull off it doesn't impress very much IMO.

I wish I could do them....Shpongled brings up a valid point though...most audience members will not be that impressed by it since they probably don't know how hard they are to execute. Still wouldn't be a bad thing to learn, though.
