I tie my strings the normal way of a double knot so it's tight and doesn't come out, but the way I HOLD my strings is quite weird/different xD But the way I hold them provides for the best spirals because i don't have to clasp my hands one on top of the other or anything

If you liked this video help promote GenXGlow by Thanks!

The way I hold and measure my strings is for my particular style of glowstringing. I constantly transition from stringing to free-hand, and this grip is key for that kind of style. Some people like their strings longer so they can do other kinds of manipulations like over-lapping wraps, etc..

I hope this helps

Alex that video was a great help, not may sites talk about how to hold and tie there string from personal experience. I have been trying different methods of holding my string, but my string was either too tight or too slack. Your method works perfect,my strings are never loose now so i have more control

I'll post a tutorial for you showing how I do spirals with that grip.

Default Strings - 05-14-07, 08:04 PM

First of all I use nylon string from walmart cut to a certain length, then I burn the ends so they don't fray. I once used 36" shoestings everytime but I found that I like nylon strings better because that have less stretch, and when the strings connect in orbitals and tangles the spins smoother and faster. I also like how nylon feels doing different wraps. The down side to nylon is when the strings tangle and get stuck together it a bitch to get untangled sometimes. Shoe strings are good for beginners in the sense that they can come untangled a lot easier.
I tie them at the ends in a way that I can easily untie later to change glowsticks. Alex showed me a while back how he tied to his fingers and I have nearly kept tying my strings the same way ever since. I put the string up between my index and middle finger from the palm side of my hand, make a loop on the top side of my hand and then put the loop around my index and middle finger.

Great glowstringing advice. I really had no idea that this was THAT important, but it seems to be key in order to carry out sophistacated moves.

not nearly as complex as it looks, i use rat tail cord, a type of synthetic satin, makes it so you get less afterburn but can be semi sticky when it gets wet.
