Yeah, huge props all around!! Great work to both of you. I love the variation between the two styles....it really shows some creativity from both of you in different directions.
Waldo, loved your use of the melody throughout the song in various ways. If I had to give some positive criticism, I would say the beginning sounded a little too simple, but I realize this is purely due to the the fact that you need to gradually work the track in....during a set I'm sure this would be circumvented completely...excellent work!
Ablist, good job, it had a nice grungy electronic sound that I liked. You did a great job of getting the stage set right off the bat and went with it. I liked your use of the song throughout. Again, positive criticism: I would say that it could have benefited from a little more variation at moments...there were moments where I felt it was just a skosh repetitive. I felt the melody at times was upstaged by the beat....so maybe bring the melody volume up a lil. Great job, though!! I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Again, excellent work from both of you....it's really hard for me to find areas to improve, but I wanted to try to give both of you some positive criticism to work off since one of you (Waldo, I think) asked us to be super critical.
Feel the beat from start to stop, dancin' and groovin' from bottom to top!

Thanks sooo much for the input, I will take that in thought during future productions. The reason I kept it simple in the beginning is for "mixing" purposes.
I look forward to future productions as well...thanks again GxG for giving me a way to express my creativity...

yea, usually the beginning has almost nothing in it. the crowd never hears that part. the only reason i made this one the way i made it is because i knew people would be listening to the whole song. waldo's version would probably mix better in a dj set than mine since he built his up slowly.
that goes back to his take on the song being more progressive while mine was more...hell i don't know. LOL. i just tried to make it bang and give it some energy and bounce. when you hear the original song come on, its very laid back and i wanted to see if i could turn it into a pump-your-fist song.
thx for the in-depth review, ill keep that in mind!
hell, this was worth it just to get this many people's opinion on a song i made

I'll be honest, I'm having a hard time deciding. I think if Waldo's mix had some vocals, It would be no contest for me to decide. Ablist, I felt like it had a lot of potential but never got to the song, and I feel like if it did, it too would of been epic.
Well those are my critiques, I love the songs though... great work and I'm really happy that at least two of you were awesome enough to enter! =D

I appreciate your critique. I thought about adding vocals, but then i rethought it and said to myself "Self...wouldnt everyone expect vocals?" And that was the deciding factor... But once again...i really do appreciate the critique... it helps me in an unimaginable way for future productions...BIG UPS!

i love ya waldo, and the abstract thinking of no vocals was pretty impressive.
but over-all i was more impressed with ablists track.
both are well put together though, and the fact that they were put together in these time constraints was a feat in itself.
so my vote goes for ablist!
