I've seen people mention rave names but haven't looked far enough into it to find out what the deal is. So what's the deal with a rave name? It's just a handle that you go by at raves? I figure it's an appropriate thread to find out.

Honestly, don't ever ask for a raver name. You'll never find one that suits you that way. Raver names are a thing of time and place. They are a part of you, you never knew you had.

My name "Skoobie" was given to me after 4 years in the scene. We were at TAO 2000. I went with a bunch of my high school friends. I was the DD but all my friends were on acid. I have always worn a scooby doo necklace thing when I went to parties and once in a great while I'll but out with a Scooby-Doo laugh. Anyways, I walked up to by friends just before midnight and did my little laugh cause they were wrestling in the grass on acid and I found that wierd and funny. Four of them looked at me with this wierd look and then started busting out laughing themselves.
My buddy Randy stopped laughing and looked at the other 3 and was like "Did you just see his face? It turned into a dogs face!!!."

Anyways, they said my face turned into a dog that looked like Scooby but not exactly. Thats why I don't spell it the same way as the cartoon.

Raver names are special in some way. You can't give yourself one, you just have to wait for someone to give you one for soemthing you do or something that happens when your around. Make connections at parties, become good friends with a cirlce of people that have been in the scene for a bit. After people get to know you names seem to come a little more naturally.

Anyways, thats me waking up and seeeing a topic I feel strongly about. I guess I should go back to sleep now I'm wore out after all that typing.

lmfao. nice story, hahaha. Names are pretty much like handles yeah. There's a bunch of handles for ravers though. I've got like 3, and considering I'm a dj that's not even a lot. Just let one come to you lol, it'll be more fun and meaningful that way.
