Where and when was PLUR first started and by whom and 4 what reasons?Plur is an acronym that stands 4 Peace, LOVE, unity and respect...as most of us know..its a credo of the rave culture. Manyin the ravescene have heard this term at point or another, although its common usage is fearly recent. Early 1990's and mid 80's ravers followed similar principals, but did not use this coinage 2 describe their beliefs. It may b intyerrupted as the way a raver believes he/she should live his/her life, and how ppl r 2 behave at a rave.PLUR was 1st expressed as LPE (LOVE, PEACE, ECSTASY) and has been used as a variant becuase it removes the drug refedrence. LPE was mainly used in Europe in the early 90's when the rave scene became a youth subculture.
Sum ravers maybe alot think PLUR is sum philisophy dating back 2 woodstock, true hippies were big on peace&love, but this isnt tru, old skoolers know (or should know) about the importance 2 the entire rave culture.
NE raver who doesnt know who DJ FRANKIE BONES is should pay attention 2 what i write next 4 it iz ur history.......frankie bones introduced raves(in the underground party sense) to the east coast(NYC)by throwing a series of big underground parties, they were known as the Storm Raves, many promoters give frankie bones credit as the founding father of raves in America.it was at 1 of these Storm Raves that frankie bones gave a very important speechafter 1 of his powerful sets and after a fight broke out...he explained what the scene was about and why he brought it 2 NYC peace, love, and unity..when he finished every1 cheered and waved their hanns in complete unity....the r respect was never mentioned.tho..but said the reason was 4 their 2 b music where there wasnt where we can dance when we couldnt......and frankie bones and his Krew the Storm Rave Crew(himself, Adam X, and Heather heart)
so when did it really become plur and by whom is a question unanswered it just kinda appeared..first by Geoff White who wrote an article "4 Pillars Of the House Community" where he mentioned respect
Dan Freelove was named as the first 2 use the r in plur...but most believe credit actually goes Rishad Quazi in early JUNE of 1993 who signed an e-mail and then it spread vl;ike wild fire....
so the exact story has varaitions and i hope i helped u guys with sum important knowledge......
ne 1 with other versions PLZ PLZ share.....PLUR!!!!!!4LIFE!!!!!!!!

Oddly enough at the beginning of this semester, in my pop culture class, we were assigned to read a 30 page essay all about rave culture and, although most of it wasn't too much new information, it was still nice to get another perspective, as it was written by a professor at my college...who also happens to be a local DJ.
PLUR is something that has been part in parcel of the rave scene in the US since its inception. Rave, itself, is a term that was coined around the same time (Radical Audio Visual Experience).
There's a lot of good information above - though I want to add that Chicago and New York were both responsible for the growth of the rave scene.

Aren't they great? Haha that reminds me of a great stand-up routine where the comic is talking about taking history classes and how if you don't take them then you're doomed to repeat it...and then you get to learn it for free

I'll venture to say that they're referring to the original posting, which I'm sure was just CnP'd, because being a spelling and grammar Nazi I almost lost it reading that thing.
