exactly! and as 1 said earlier...RAVE ACT (written by biden) kinda keeps the "rave" title off parties now...

Well, here's my take. I use the terms rave, party, electronic music event, etc all interchangeably. If you're talking a 3 day party, I either call it that or a festival. Basically, they're all raves to me, but I use other terms to mix it up a bit.

However, I do have some distinction built up to separate them a little. Club parties are not really 'raves' but rather, more of electronic music events. Most festivals are not raves per se, but are festivals or three day parties. To me, a rave is an underground (legal or illegal, but usually legal) event with EDM, friendly group of people who mostly know each other held at a non-typical venue (ie: warehouse, restaurant, house, etc).

The reason we stray from the term 'rave' is because it carries a negative stigma in this day and age. Whether we want to admit it or not, when people here the word 'rave' they think drugs and techno....not really the truth, but that's what they think. To resolve this issue, promoter use various other terms to describe such events.

Maybe the gov should arrest masseuse's for endorsing drug use.

They should really get off our case and take care of the real problems this nation has.

Its true, rave does have negative meanings to anyone who isnt educated about what they really are.

It is just sad that the scene and the music are biting the bullet for someone elses ignorance.

*Having to rename something, just because people arent smart.
*Associating EDM with drugs.

Its a shame that people had to give up, and give in, and a shame that people had to lose something just because people are uneducated.

And why do you think people leave the 'rave' scene?- because of the association, its not because they are tired of the PLUR bullshit- its because other people ruin it and give it a bad name =(

i totally agree with you on that mainly because ive seen it happen 1st hand to 3 of my friends already. They ahvent stopped listening to EDM music and i doubt they ever will and they still string with me and all that but they have stopped going to raves just becasue of the simple fact that most of the ppl round here go purely for the drugs and theyve just gotten tired of dealing with all that. Its sad seeing the young kids who are just getting into the scene adn going to their 1st raves just to do drugs not going for the whole experience or to listen to the music.

Well, ya know....this is EXACTLY why I always push so hard to persuade people to be more responsible in their substance use. We gotta 'clean-up' the rave scene and try to get raves accepted as a fun, unique subculture....not a bunch of drugged out hippies.

I hope everyone is behind me on this.
