Rave scene > drug scene -

I've seen a burst of post about people debating how drugs and how the word 'rave' is being affected. I think Under Ground Assassins proposed no longer referring as our events as raves to save the scene. They were met with a lot of detest but I was thinking and although I don't agree with changing the name of the scene, I do understand where they are coming from (they have been in the scene for a while and they have seen a lot of things).
R.A.V.E - Radical Audio Visual Experience. Its what its all about in one easy word.
Too many people are saying we are about drugs and shit like that. Excuse my french but im not happy about this. I personally despise you. You who are slandering the rest of us with your addiction to drugs. If you were a true raver you could find the experience amazing because of the music and the energy from the people around you and the environment. If you do drugs at raves, just go home. We don't need you trippin around us, poisoning our scene the was you poison your bodies. We know who you are-its obvious when we see you. You think your a raver, your not. A raver practices PLUR. You lack Respect for the scene and the rest of us. The RAVE act is because of you. Our clubs being shut down is your fault. People making fun of our culture is because of you. DO NOT call yourself a raver, you are a drugie. Drugies use drugs to create an experience. We use a Radical Audio Visual Experience.
Stop polluting the word rave. Stop pulling us down with you. If you want to do drugs, and I'm sure you drugies do, take it away from EDM and back into your homes. I have nothing against anyone who does drugs, thats a personal choice, just don't bring it to our scene.
[/end rant]
Separate raves from the "drug scene." There's no such thing as an 'anti-rave act' just anti-drug acts and stereotypes drugs have brought to the rave scene.

I think every raver should be responsible for their own time at a rave...
Each raver affects the scene..
the drugs will never take over, nor will they ever leave...
My only question towards society is why is the rave scene singled out?
What about the redneck scene, and all its licquor?
What about the metal scene and its drugs?
What about the strip clubs where people do cocaine?
name me one individual scene that has no drugs in it...
And why are ravers downed upon for drug use, versus the general youthful generation?
It isnt the scene in the raver that does the drugs, it is the raver in the scene...

i wish there was a way around it (because almost every one of my friends does some kind of drugs and i don't like speaking against my friends), but drugs are the cause of almost all the problems in the rave scene.
i just....i dont know. i feel like i have more to say but ALL the people i hang out with do drugs a lot, so i feel like a hypocrite when all my friends still trip/take pills/get high and whatever else. i haven't done drugs for nearly 7 years, but i dont know how to type my feelings on this without it coming out wrong. i have close friends on here and i make a point not to preach to people, especially not to tell my friends how to live.
if you HAVE to do it (which you don't), do it at home. thats about all i can say.

if you have to do it be responsible,
the fact is, were gonna be looked down on made fun of no matter what we do for how we dress, dance, and the music that we listen to.
dont stress, just dont be a idiot if you choose to do drugs, if people would stop oding and dehydrating at parties everything would be funken awsome.
in closing
theres nothing wrong with taking a happy pill or two at a party IF! you are responsible, know what you have, and know how to handle it.

i found this article:
What is a "rave" and where did it come from? The move was from disco to techno. In the mid-1980's raves emerged in the United Kingdom (England) in gay clubs, becoming multi-thousand attendee events and spread to other club environments. English law enforcement identified raves as drug-taking festivals, and took vigorous police action. Even with the increased enforcement raves still remain a problem. By the late 1980's rave entertainers were in the United States, appearing at clubs in major cities. Music plays an important role and was responsible for bringing the drug Ecstasy (MDMA) into the club scene. Raves in the U.S. today include any site, licensed or not, where the rave music, atmosphere and drugs are found. Raves are characterized by loud techno or electronic music, dark environment with laser lighting, pro-drug paraphernalia ( including on site sales of drugs), illicit drugs - MDMA, LSD, GHB, Ketamine, mushrooms, and some conventional drugs. "Ravers" commonly dress in bizarre or "baby" styles of clothing. Massage parlors and cool down rooms are set up to deal with the side effects of some of the drugs. There are generally no "bands", but disk jockeys playing or "making" music with electronic equipment. Depending on how carefully security may be searching at the entrance, which generally is not very knowledgeable or serious in terms of finding drugs, much of the drug sales activities may be conducted in the parking lot or areas outside the main venues.
We cant stop here......this is bat country!!

I just really hate that I get labeled because people have caused the music to be labeled. Eats me up inside.
I'm not bashing drugs (even though I feel it would be the right thing to do). I'm bashing how I get to have a stranger come up and ask me for beans. WTF what if I had of been an undercover cop? I'm bashing the people that gladly throw a stereotype on our culture by backing it.
If drugies weren't in our scene, Eden and scoripios would still be producing great times in the Charlotte, NC area. I was there when scorpios was shut down due to a drug bust.
Separate raves from the "drug scene." There's no such thing as an 'anti-rave act' just anti-drug acts and stereotypes drugs have brought to the rave scene.

ya i feel ya on that ninja, but i dont feel it would be right to bash drugs, just because some of them are illeagel doesnt make them bad yanno? ofcourse in the context your talking about it doesnt matter
either way i believe in freedom of choice and i believe its one of the main things about the rave scene as well.
