Default best shoes for sliding? - 02-02-08, 09:53 PM

i'm sure you all know the move, i guess it's part of fluid dancing, it's called the slide... that toe heel thing that you do across the dance floor to look like you're moving on air. well, i'm learning to do it but i rave in my adidas indoor cleats which are intended to grip the floor and it is definitely difficult. i also tried in my osiris's which made it ever-so-slightly less complicated. now this may be a stupid question, but in one of the vids on here i saw a guy who had the slide mastered and noticed he was wearing Puma's. i've always been told pumas are great shoes, and i'm very picky about what goes on my feet... but can anyone who owns them tell me if they'd be better for this dance move?

puma rock myface off and i do a little sliding myself, they work pretty well. and its not all about the type of shoe or what type of material is on the bottom of the shoe, alot of it has to do with the amount of pressure you distibute and shift between your feet.

kind of awkward to explain, but you'll know it when you nail it, you'll get that rushing feeling of accomplishment.

i've got half of it. i can slide back and forth between feet but not move anywhere on the floor. i want to learn how to do it across the floor and in big arcs and circles like i see in the vids. but yeah i've wanted pumas for awhile now. they look super comfortable i just don't know how great the arch supports are. i have super flat feet so i rock the adidas at raves. they contour my feet well and keep me from getting sore.

oh well shit, i think pumas would probably be better for you feet than mine then. ive got a mad style arch in my feet and after like 5 hours at a club or just out being a crack head that i am playing frisbee or alot of walking, my feet start to ache pretty hard.

could always take a belt sander to an old pair of shoes lol. That should take care of any traction issues. I'd recommend avoiding ice patches while wearing them though.

"I refuse to prove that I exist," says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing."
"But," say Man, "the Babel fish is a dead giveaway, isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don't. QED."
"Oh dear," says God, "I hadn't though of that" and promply vanishes in a puff of logic.

exactly! i can do some slides and some floats. i wear emericas.. i can do it in my jordans as well. it IS all about pressure and weight distribution and how its shifted as well as footing and to me.. knees.

i.e
if your slideing to the right you'll have one foot planted(the left).. that foot should be the one with the most pressure on it.. making the right one light makin it easier to "slide" giving the effect.

hope that made sense n gave a lil bit of help/understandment on whats goin on. hell maybe someone else has a different way to do it. lol

i can do the movement i was just having trouble locating shoes that didn't stick my feet into the ground. i wear indoor soccer cleats when i rave because they are the only seriously comfortable shoes i can wear and be on my feet 10 hours at a time, with the circulation disease i have. but the problem is they stick to the ground like fly paper making it very hard to be fluid. so that's why i wanted to check out some pumas. besides, i saw these silver ones. and i wear black cons, white osiris, and my adidas are black so i think it'd be cool to get silver pumas.

While trying to glide. You must not put too much pressure while sliding on the ground. It helps give you a better effect. This will take practice.

I'm a huge fan of Taekwondo shoes and Pumas. If you don't feel like buying new shoes. I recommend taping the soles of your shoes, or even using talcum power.
