okay, im learning how to jump( JUMPSTYLE ) and it is absolutely KILLING my knees. and since my knee hurts so bad, do think i should just say "fuck it" and just give up and just stick with poi + liquid, or do you think i should stick with it????

Fisrt of all why do your knees hurt? Did you fall?
I Hardstye/Hardjump/Jumpstyle how ever you want to say it. At first It was a bit hard and quite tireing considering the fact that I was so out of shape. You shouldnt give up I said the same thing while I was learning. Try to learn the shuffles first it wont be so hard on your knees then yo can move on to the stomps, it will be a lot more easier to control your feet that way. At least it was for me. Dont give up everything is a bit hard in the begining. Once i fix my Computers CD Drive ill install my camera and ill try to post a tutorial on the basics. Mean while just hang in there.

I have two questions:
1) are you stretching and warming up/cooling down when you practice?

2) are you wearing decent shoes?

I don't do jumpstyle, but I do a pretty fair bit of running (and I have lousy knees) and those things are crucial for preventing pain/injury. If you have pain in your shins - stop and go to the doctor! Shin splints suck and can take a year to heal...

i do stretch and do push ups/ roman chairs before i do anything that is phys. demanding on my body. the pains are just in my knees, and ive been wearing knee braces ( the nice ACE ones, not the dinky shitty ones). everytime it acts up i just take 15 min. off.

I'm going to have to agree. Make sure you have decent shoes on. When I was learning how to jump I was always wearing chucks. And it didn't feel so good. Now I represent the Pumas! Not much better, still the little running shoes have more sole on them than the converse.

i use sum 'es skateshoes, really comfy and it has mesh things that hold your feet in place...... i think i'll just wear my brace and go see the doc....

the doc is probably not a bad idea if you're having consistent pain...he/she may be able to suggest some stretches or weight exercises to help strengthen the muscles around your knees. I gotta say too - if you know anyone who does physical therapy for a living - good physical therapists are priceless and sometimes can offer a different kind of insight than a doctor (mine saved me from full blown surgery on both knees!)
