That's true, and if this idea goes through, I think that regardless, we should never refer to it as a crew of any sort...

I don't know what to call it... Guild... That's a name it could be called... It may not sound good, but when you think of a guild, you don't think of a group of people doing anything that's against the morals of the mainstream GenX environment...

Please refrain from bashing someone here. We dont bash or flame anyone at this site(and try not to anywhere else also). We like to show the true meaning of PLUR here. This is a place to learn and appreciate all aspects of the rave scene.

Dude how iz it pathetic to show spirit of dancin? in any shape or form? Me and my mate we both try to learn as many styles that suits our likings/movements/style and we have seen many people do it with flying colors to create insane looking moves.

The point is keep it open keep it fresh, keep it mixed so u get all sorts of nice combinations from all aspects of dance. If we all stuck to one single style how on earth did we get here today?

I recently battled a 15 Y/O kid and he beat me...and he was all over my face like hes better than me or summit, i dont think this kinda atitude to competition was a very pleasant experience for me. i think what we are doing right now iz pretty nize...just spread the joy spread the love be free

I can understand you're point though, as I do not like the whole 'crew/krew' idea, but these 'crews' aren't only for break-dancing, but just because one member likes the idea doesn't mean they have a bad intent behind it.

Crews can be a good thing, as long as their mentality is to remain a group of performers who either perform together and/or use each other to gain knowledge and receive constructive criticism, and not to go attempt to battle anyone whom shows an interest, try to establish superiority (in their heads), and/or down anyone who doesn't have their skill or experience.

Yeah dude, we got to watch out, some of these performers are young, and get real good real quick...

As for battling, I don't condone or condemn it, but I see two aspects of it. There is battling for a fun competition, which is not to specify who is better, but just a friendly competative thing on something they both enjoy, and then there is battling where the only point is to try and establish publicly that you (in your own mind) are the best, and that everyone else sucks... THAT is what is bad...


But I like how you counterpointed with your opinions, and (way to go btw) maintained a neutral context and did not insult personally or be disrespect anyone... Thank you for keeping the peace, even when disagreeing...

First off, this thread is WAY old!!! That one heck of a resurection bump! It's like bringing Abe Lincoln back with cloning!!! LOL.

As for the topic of battling....definitely negative. There is something about competing against someone else in the same field that is inherently negative. It's because one person is always deemed the 'winner' and the others as the 'losers.' Why can't we all just express ourselves and be EQUAL?? When we compete, we're only out to prove that we're better than another and it loses the fun factor. Please don't do this....you just kill the beautiful essence of dance.

As for crews, do you honestly need them? I'm all for having a group of friends that like to glowstick or dance together, but why do you need to limit it to that 'group.' It just doesn't mesh with PLUR cause you're not unifying things....in the short-term, yeah, you sorta are....in the long term, you merely divide yourself from the community which ruins the unity of everyone. Learn from each other, but teach other people too! Don't be selfish or show-boat. Just love what you do, express yourself and teach others.
