Default Hardstyle dance discussion - 11-11-08, 02:03 PM

Alright. I admit. I'm new to the raving environment thing. But I'm reallying loving the atmosphere. But what got me started was the youtube hardstyle dance videos. I really want to learn how to do the dance xD

You can see in Moonboy's video

Or in even DJTriplestar's video, they're doing the dance.

Even moreso, I also want to know those pants are that DJTriplestar is wearing and where I can get those. I'm really diggin' those =D

And to do the dance, are certain shoes (or floor conditions) necessary?

I'd appreciate any help.

I usually wore airwalks they helped when I would dance cause my style was more like sliding in rhthym with my feet rather than dance steps. I'm sure others can give you more specifics then I can on specific shoes necessary though. And try hot topic for those pants, looks similar to what I see in there all the time

I've read that a lot of people use talcum powder to shuffle on. I guess it helps with the glide =)

Whats the difference between hardstyle and melb shuffle? I always thought hardstyle was just another variation of jump style but I guess I was wrong.

I too wish to learn the skills that are melb and hardstyle.

Separate raves from the "drug scene." There's no such thing as an 'anti-rave act' just anti-drug acts and stereotypes drugs have brought to the rave scene.

Now I may be wrong, but if I understand correctly, Hardstyle is not a dance, in fact. In the same sense that Hardstyle is a variation of other styles of music, it is also a variation on other styles of dances. there is a hardstyle variation for jumpstyle and there might be for shuffling.

Yeah, that's a pretty sweet dance style. From what I know about it, it has more to do with technique than clothing/conditions. Most of the gliding movements are accomplished by rapid heel-toe movements moving the body to the side, while the other leg does a stomping/sliding motion which grabs your attention. It kinda makes it seem as though the stomping/sliding leg is the one causing the motion, which it isn't. From what I've heard, you can do it on all surfaces with most all shoes (although some are certainly easier (NOT thick carpet with stilettos...LOL). I know we have a quite a few hardstyle/jumpstyle/melbourne shufflers on the site who would know more than I do, so let's see if they get in on this discussion. I think we have a few dance tutorials in the dance forums....and you obviously found YouTube....it has some good videos/tutorials as well.

Edit...oh, about the pants. They seem like your typical 'phat' pants. Some brands are UFO and tripp NYC....but there are many more.

Ah. Thanks so much for clearing that up some =]
