Default Jumpstyle/Stomp Challenges? - 06-18-08, 02:11 AM

What does everyone think about competatively jumpstyling/stomping?

I think you shouldn't do it TO be competative, but you shouldn't back down from a challenge. And I guess it's okay to 'challenge' somebody every once in a while, but not every night all the time... But I was at the club rollin last friday and I was jumpstylin, and I was actually doing good (I'm always the shit at w/e I do while rollin), and he came up and did this whole thing of 'challenging me in front of everyone'...

Like he did some 'stomp the yard' shit, but like stomping version... and I mean I won't back down from a challenge, and I did happen to come out on top, cuz he like did it in a way where everyone around us stopped what they were doing and watched...

Which I mean that's no problem with me cuz I love attention and I'm very confident in my ability to stomp/jumpstylin, ESPECIALLY if I'm rollin...

But I mean... I was shocked as hell and like I actually laughed for a few seconds when he stopped and looked at me...

Was just wondering what everyone's opinions on that kinda stuff is?

The only style of dancing that can have battles is Breakdancing IMO. Or maybe that 'crumping' stuff.

Shuffle and Jumpstyle is just to limited for moves.

Well, I'm pretty much against competition in anything unless it's against yourself Basically, I'm more into doing my own thing than trying to show somebody up/act like I'm better than them.

Kinda, but not really...

There are a lot of creative minds, I'd like to include myself, that jumpstyle and shuffle, and I'll give it to you, you can't really add much to a shuffle, but jumpstyling, god, I've picked up a few moves from fellow jumpstylist, and I've thrown some moves that fit, that I haven't seen anyone else use...

So I don't think you can have a shuffle off unless you're going for who does it cleaner, but you can definately be challenged to a challenge os stomping or jumpstyling

well IMO and i mean NO offense to jumpstyle or stomping whatsoever, but those things dont really look like the things for competition. competition dancing is for displaying style but theres not 2 much style in jumpstyle and stomping. i think that dance competition are more fore bboys, hip hop dancers and even shufflers.

All because of you
I believe in angels.
Not the kind with wings,
No, not the kind with halos;
The kind that bring you home
When home becomes a strange place.
I'll follow your voice;
All you have to do is
Shout it out....

It is possible to have a Brisbane Stomp competition because it allows a lot more freedom in the movements (you can incorporate breakdancing into it if you wanted too)

Ha ha ha, well, your view would change if you watch me jumpstyle... It may just be me, cuz I see a lot of people jumpstyle, but they just like do it, I like throw myself into it, and I throw some SICK ass moves when I hardstyle...Pretty much, not trying to be cocky, but if everyone did it as hardcore as I did (not hardcore as in uber uber uber godly, but hardcore as in I throw everything I have into it) then you can DEFINATELY have a competition... I don't condone competativeness in stomping, hardstyling, shuffling, poi, etc., but I won't back down from a challenge...No offense to anyone, but IMO, limiting 'competition' to hiphop dancers and shit is playing into a stereotype...
