This is a discussion on Abelton Live 7 within the DJ Corner forums, part of the Music discussion category: Does anyone have Abelton Live 7 >? I just got it recently.......
I'm very seriously thinking about getting it. I'll use it first to produce hardcore and drum n bass and then eventually for live sets. Are you using any hardware like a midi controller or just the mouse?

Abelton is the shit...a lil complicated for me, but you "brainiac's" seem to have a blast at it.

it's not really that complicated. It just takes a little persistence. I played around with it on a friends comp for about a half an hour and learned so much.
I have been a Live user since 3.0 and know it almost as well as the back of my hand. I’ve used it to do some pretty off the wall stuff, such as activating other MIDI devices, lighting controls, music creation on the fly, remixing on the fly, etc. However, for me, it seemed to take the soul out of DJing, I mean I was just pressing buttons, or pointing and clicking. (Unless of course I had it set up to an array of MIDI controls.) Now I use SSL with a TTM57 in conjunction with Live and now DJing is fun again. I have nothing but good things to say about Live, so if you have any questions about it don’t hesitate to look me up and ask. I’ll help out the best I can.
