Default help with mastering mixes - 07-12-08, 05:51 PM

i made a few mixes last night, and was kinda fubar, not the mixes but me. and the one mix i want to do over, cause i dont have a mastering program to change levels through out hte set to get a normalized level from the start to the finish of the set.... you know how some records are louder than others, and some tracks are more, intense than others and i just want to play it louder.... lol

so i have a q.
is there any free programs out that i can download to adjust points of level in particluar parts of my mix... i dont want o put it up here yet... till it sound better. i do alot of droppin records on point, rather than blending, at least with my breaks.... and you all will love what i have done. but i want to make it professional.

audacity has a few features but its in denver, and i looked for programs locally here and nothing. reason why im asking about a download....

im a mix some more tonight and record. i have some records that are breathtaking. eery and powerful, i have to get this shit out. im working on it genxglow.

"T-Rax" That's all it does. It's a mastering program. You should be able to get it from Limewire.com. If you can't find it email me and I'll put it on a file sharing server.

LOL you went to so much trouble when the simple answer is "Automation" it automaticly adjuts the level at certain points in song i real time you just draw in where you want something louder and when you want it softer with a whole mix should only take 10min you can also automate a compresser if you mix has that dramatical adjustments in level

good luck

i know... and i did that. only it add a shitty digital sound to the mix...
and it sounds better with me recording at lower levels,,, and adjusting a few other points, like noise reduction, a gain increase, and normalizing...
and im recording at 96000, 24 bit.

and then i compress to mp3. it simple. but i just didnt have a program at the time. thanks .... jkjk lol

well it would be bettter to mix with all ur gains at the same level lol ur best bet is automating or sidechaining a compresser btw if ur sound card aint that great you should record at 16bit becuse what you hear and what other ppz hear on there speekers are verry diffrent so dont stress on trying to get a perfect mix becuse without proper studio grade monitors your final mix wont cut it good luck with furue recordings

BTW you must record under 0 DB incase you did not allready know
