Just to state that all or some of my answers are just my opinions and may not be the same for every dj

Well lets start off... You will need 2 turntables or cdj's (which ever you prefer) and a mixer

Turtables - i would suggest starting off on Stanton's, they offer great durability and basic controls (they also are one of the cheapest turntables) for a beginning dj. After you learn the basics of dj'ing then i suggest you upgrade to Numark or Technics (unless you prefer to go all out from the beginning)

Mixer - This is something that is based on what you want from your mixer. i.e. - how many channels, effects, knobs or switches (as a kill switch for ranges), mic jack, etc...

i hope this information helps

again and again, the amount of money limits you to what you can start off with. mixing with mp3's is cheaper and easier to carry arounf to gigs. but learning to use cdj's nad vinyls is essential imo. becoming a dj that is versitile is important.

there is so much you can go with for equipment. what ever you choose stick with it for a while and move on to new equipment. the basics of mixing is still the same, althogh i think the complexity of mixing will vary for what equipment you have. its easier for me, mixing with vinyls and cds.

go for it ! and good luck. remeber ellaskins tutorials on youtube. probably one of the easier ways to learn is from watching his vids. and others mix.. i mean every chance you get to see or watch get up there and watch, and listen. good luck my friend and keep us posted! happy 4th of july! plur

If you want credibility as a DJ, you need to learn to play vinyl. Don't mess with all this digital crap out there like Traktor and CDJs. Play vinyl. The digital decks are meant to expand your setup after you've mastered the turntables. So get some Technics and a decent mixer. You can find cheap used Techs locally at you local or regional raver message boards or e-mail lists.
