yeah the Rane TTM57SL im not sure if its worth the price though, eventualy am i gona need more channels? i know im gonna be djing for a while, so i wana get quality stuff that im not gona out grow any time soon, hopfully ill just be adding to it, but not replacing. i know im getting technics and a computer program (either final scratch or scratch live, most likely the latter) my biggest issue right now is choosing a mixer. i know i can get 2 turntables for four hundred ( i dug up multiple deels better than that)... the question is, what mixer should i get, and how much will the price drop on the Rane TTM57SL? i THINK its pretty new, since you cant find ANY ebay auctions for used ones....

another DJ me and ablist know, StYLeZ from SmOOth Productions(yes sir...thats what we call a shameless promotion for those who didnt know ) , actually has that mixer. I think he got it for like $1300-$1500. I mos def think the mixer is GANGSTA BAD ASS, however the only thing that comes to mind is this one question...."what if something goes wrong with your mixer....then what?"
again...another mindless thought by me...
now onto the real issue...the mixer. You'll get TONS of conflictiing advise on this issue. But hey...here's my theory. Get the mixer that best suites.....YOU! If you're a 'tablist (scratch and beat juggling DJ) then you wanna buy a "smooth fader" mixer. I got a kick ass stanton mixer for like $199, and i LOVE it. it has hamster switches (reverses) and a smooooooooooooooooth ass fader.
If you want "cleaner" sound with the best outputs...I say go Allen and Heath ($2500-$5000)
If you want the best of both worlds...go with a PIONEER 800 or somehting like that....
Thats my take!

well im mostly into trance/dark trance but i wana be able to be able to get into scratching. so i guess i should go with the 800. Ive been looking at the Allen and Heath stuff, ive heard all good things but the price tag makes me cry! also, if i get any other mixer that means an extra 500 bucks i gotto spend on the software/scratch amp......

the club standard these days is the djm600 (pioneer) which was around 1000 but i think its down to 900 retail which means you can probably get one for 6-700 on ebay or wherever. i use it, henry uses it, everybody and their mother has one but there's a few reasons for that: on the mixing side, it has 4 channels, effects, it's sturdy/built well, adjustable output, fader start, assignable a/b fader selection (you can make the crossfader go between any of the 4 channels you want) and more after that. on the scratching side, it has hamsters/assignable, smooth faders, curve control, and is basically built to work with tech 12's or cdj800's.
if thats still too high, stanton makes some mixers for 400-500 bucks that wont have very much stuff on them, but they will LAST FOREVER. numark doesnt make great turntables but their mixers are great for lots of people. i had a numark for 4 years after someone else had it for like 8 years, and i sold it to someone else who still uses it today. but just like the other stuff, go into a guitar center or somewhere that lets you try them out, its important to like the way the mixer feels.

^ thats also one of the reasons i got the 600, i feel right at home in most clubs. my home setup is two tech12's, a djm600, a cdj800, an old gemini pt2000, and a stanton sk-6f.

Yeah im thinking, the 2 techs and the djm (plus the computer program) would be a good way to start off, ill prolly never have to upgrade from that (unless there is some crazy new advancement) just add to it (am i right there?) ALSO, i just got a biiiiiiig box of my aunts ald records. its mostly bad disco (its Barry White city over here!) but ill get to practice beat matching the oldschool way with no crutch (no visual help im saying). Maybe i can find some Billy Jean or somthing in there so i dont have to listen to ALL 70's disco
