if you have a webcam hooked into your computer there should already be a default program to run it. My computer has a "built in" webcam. one in the lid of the laptop. when I run certain programs it automatically starts it. what kind of camera are you planning on using? that would be a big help.

That would be very helpful if u made some tutorials on dj'ing. I just bought two Stanton STR8-60 direct drives and a Numark 1002 MKII mixer on wednesday, and i need some help beatmatching.

i dont have a webcam yet, that was part of my question. does it matter what kind? are the more expensive ones worth it? are there sound/no sound versions, or does that just have to do with your computer?

elvis, if you want some quick answers, you can drop me a line anytime on here or email me at ablist1@gmail.com

My advise is to get/use a decent digital camera. That's really all you need. A webcam will work, but they're usually a much lower pixel rate which means crappy video quality! Here are my key's to a successful vid:
-decent camera
-good lighting
-speak clearly (and preferrably, have things tenatively rehearsed or at least have a list of things you wish to cover.....)
-try to be organized
-close up shots are nice if you really wanna SHOW rather than just TELL
-put a GXG thingy at the beginning or end!
-video editing is cool....wish I knew more about it....this is not essential, but it'd be a nice thing to do....windows movie maker is sufficient or some other basic video editting software.....you don't have to go crazy, but simple editing will make your vid loads better.

Good luck, I think DJ tutorials would be very helpful to the community!

practice will be the only thing that will help you here man.
aside from mixing, and structure, beatmatching is essential. what kind of music are you mixing with to learn beatmatching?

i started with drum and bass, which can be a bit harder to start off with, just caues there is a lot more going on that say house or progressive house nad progressive trance. id start with house, or progressive.

do you have two of the same vinyls? that can also get you on your way.

all i can say, is when you have to get a solid beat going. riding hte mix with progressive genres isnt that hard, it just takes practice.

make small adjustments, when you have a general match with the beats, and keep you hande on the pitch control, so you can adjust smoothly, rather than using the post, or platter to slow it down or speed it up.

i have about 5 or 6 videos made with my webcam. and i have a mic on the laptop. and that will not be sufficent imo. you need a camera that will do video, or a camcorder. and plug in a line in form teh mixer so we can hear the mix, or some good monitors so the mic can pic it up.

as far as software to edit, im using windows movie maker....

i'm gonna spin mostly breaks. Probably funky breaks. I like the style of D-Lerium N Faze and far Too Loud alot. But i just have a few old breaks records, some icey and huda hudia and some others i have never heard of before. Who has the best selection and prices on vinyl online?
