JOHAN GIELEN

He is a true master when it comes to working the crowd, his mixing skills are amongst those of the best and he plays the right records at the right time. According to these qualifications one could say Johan Gielen is a good DJ. But it takes more than filling in the basic requirements to get to the absolute top of the world. You need a strong character for instance. You have to be able to resist the pressure of continuously performing on a high level. You have to take for granted all the long trips, waiting hours at airports and lonely stays in hotels. You need to find enough moments for yourself in your life and most important, you have to be there for your fans. It does not come easy and being at the top implies hard work, since nothing comes for free. Dutch DJ Johan Gielen knows how to work hard. He has been a professional DJ for over ten years now. “I have so many airmiles, I could fly over the world 36 times for free!”
Everybody in Holland who is fond of dancemusic knows Johan Gielen. And if you live in a foreign country and you like trance the odds are very small you have never heard of the Belgium born Dutchman. Gielen is ranked high in the international DJ charts and he has played all over the world. In Japan he lived his golden years as resident of the prestigious Tokyo based Club Velfarre. has been a professional DJ for over ten years now. “I have so many airmiles, I could fly over the world 36 times for free!”
The big breakthrough for Johan Gielen came in Holland with the rise in popularity of the famous Dutch trance sound that would conquer the entire world. Being resident of the world largest trance event Trance Energy he played the enormous Jaarbeurs in Utrecht with a 20 thousand people capacity and on top of that came his appearance on Sensation White in the Amsterdam ArenA. There he played for a 35 thousand dressed in white audience on a massive party that could easily be labelled as the worlds leading dance event. Due to Gielens capability to get large crowds of people dancing he became a well received guest at big festivals like Dance Valley and Mystery Land as well. But enough about the past, what lies ahead for Gielen? has been a professional DJ for over ten years now. “I have so many airmiles, I could fly over the world 36 times for free!”
2006 was great for Johan the launch his debut album Revelations on his own ‘Tunes for You’ label licensed to Black Hole Recordings was huge. The first single “ Revelations, Right from my Heart” was in all charts and the video for it was on all the big music stations worldwide. The seconde single “Magnitude” is once again a huge hit and is played by all the big names already. It’s safe to say Johan Gielen delivered a hit album with the release of Revelations. It is time to take a look at the person behind the DJ. What do we know about the character of Gielen? “I am pretty spiritual in my thoughts. This reveals itself in my habit to get some moments of quietness before going on stage. These are not nerves but I need some time for myself to focus. The spiritual side of me is also the reason why I am so fond of my Koi carps. I can’t explain this in a right way, you have to see them for yourself in order to understand that they make you feel at ease.” has been a professional DJ for over ten years now. “I have so many airmiles, I could fly over the world 36 times for free!”
Gielen is not an easy fellow to work with, the people that worked with him shall agree with that. He is a perfectionist who expects the best from others as well as from himself. Gielen: “Everything has to be fine. Like I never show up late when I have to play. But even though I have this aim for perfection I find it important to enjoy every minute of my life. Every day can be your last so I live my life as fully as possible. Sometimes, this collides with my ambitions. You have to find the right balance in looking out for your own health and entertaining people. To me, giving other people a good time is the most important aspect of being a DJ. I love to communicate with the crowd without the use of words. Music is the ideal tool for this, it enables you to share the same emotions without speaking them out loud. has been a professional DJ for over ten years now. “I have so many airmiles, I could fly over the world 36 times for free!”
When the crowd goes wild on the floor, Johan Gielen is a happy man!”

JOCHEN MILLER
http://www.jochenmiller.nl
Jochen van der Steijn, born in the Dutch city Mill, started his career by the name DJ Jochen. In 2003 he changed his artist name into Jochen Miller. The young deejay / producer already managed to create his own recognisable sound, which can be described as style-blending tech-trance: energetic, uplifting en high quality. Characterized by up-tempo powerful melodies, few breaks and constant pumping bass lines. The charismatic Jochen Miller is filled with passion for music and ready to make it to the top.
How it all started
In his early teens Jochen developed his interest in dance music. The lucky fact of his father having a discotheque gave him the opportunity to practise on his mixing skills. There he became resident deejay at the age of 16, followed by a residency at club Zino’s (Tilburg, The Netherlands) when he was 18. In 1999 he made it to the finals of the Dutch mixing championships at Dance Valley, where he stood out from the rest because of his scratching, looping and mixing with three turntables. Deejaying at afterparties in the Lexion (Westzaan, The Netherlands) was not only a blast but also instructive. Since 2001 started his infamous residency at The Matrixx (Nijmegen, The Netherlands). ‘The surprise of the year’ the authoritative Dutch ID&T Magazine denominated him, at the first edition of the Dutch dance-awards in 2003. The two following editions kept him at a steady 13th place, with only 4 international trance DJ’s ranked above him, so Jochen Miller is sticking around to cement his position at the forefront of dance music.
Jochen Miller the producer
Inspired by all of the pumping club tracks he played for his audience every week, Jochen Miller decided to start producing his own dance music in 2001. For about four full days a week, he can be found in his home built recording studio. Working hard and being dedicated to the fullest. The first slice of vinyl released by the name Jochen Miller called ‘Vanity’ (ID&T free for all label) did very well in the international dance scene. The follow-up ‘India’ made it to the high positions of dance-charts around the world as well. March 2005 Jochen Miller was in the top 10 of the Dutch dance charts with no less than two hit records: ‘Miller & Fijneman – San Andreas(Outstandin, Black Hole Recordings) and ‘Silent Electra – For this moment’ (Jochen Miller remix, United Recordings). A couple of remixes for his own side-projects such as Eastcoast’s ‘We are united’ (Midtown)and Silent Electra ‘Polarity’(United recordings) raised the interrest of other producers, resulting in Jochen Miller-remixes for Cor Fijneman(Monologue), Ton T.B.(Static Bullet) and Hemstock&Jennings(Mirage). Jochen also continued his succesfull co-productions with Cor Fijneman. Together they released two more smashing tracks, Mono Dura and Genuine Draft, both on Cor’s label(Outstanding/Blackhole recordings). With Boy Lamoen Jochen launched some side-projects, such as Lambler(E-cutz, Germany), Modena, and Morrisson(both on Dedicated, United recordings). His uncontrollable energy also drove him into another direction, Jochen teamed up with Boy Lamoen to make trance music for Edward Gal, the world’s first runner up in horse dressage. At this moment, expectations are high for Miller’s latest tune,’Chromatic’, wich will be title-track for one of Holland’s largest new outdoor event Emporium.
Jochen Miller the performer
As word of his phenomenal productions spread, the demand for Jochen Miller as a deejay grew naturally. Resulting in gigs and unique initiatives all over The Netherlands, Spain, Greece, Finland ,Poland, Germany, Scotland, England and playing at The Space, the hottest club in Miami (USA) during the Winter Music Conference 2004. Dutch highlights include dance events as Mysterland, Impulz, Fast Forward Dance Parade Main Stage, Decibel Outdoor, Innercity, Dance Valley, Trance Energy, Frequence, Defqon, Emporium, the summer parties in Nijmegen (where he plays four days in a row every year, including a smashing solo gig for over 5000 people), and hosting his own solo truck at the Fast Forward Dance Parade in Rotterdam two years in a row.

4 STRINGS
www.4strings-music.com
Behind the name 4 Strings hides 2 musicians, Carlo Resoort and Jan de Vos. The two have known each other since 1986. In 1990 they became interested in dance music and from that moment on, they started producing their own music. All their spare time was spent in the studio. Throughout the next couple of years not only did their skills expand but also the amount of equipment in their studio. With the new tools and experience that they had, they could finally discover in which direction they wanted to go with their musical careers: Carlo decided to stay in the studio while Jan found his passion in mixing and started his DJ-ing career.
Jan met up with Piet Bervoets (Carlos, ROOS and Rank 1). Piet taught him the basics of mixing. After a couple of months, Jan joined a drive-in-show, where he played all kinds of music from R&B, Top 40 to Happy Hardcore. His skills were improving rapidly, and it was during this time period he noticed that his main interest was in dance music. After winning a first place prize in a DJ contest, he was offered his very own residency.
Carlo Resoort started with dance music in 1994, and soon after that he had his first release. After a couple of releases he had his first major breakthrough: “Carlos - the silmarilla”, produced together with Piet Bervoets of Rank 1. Two years later he had another hit with “Turn it around”. Around this same time, a new record company was born, “Spinnin Records”. Shortly thereafter Carlo signed his first record deal and 4 Strings was born.
“Daytime” was the first track of 4 Strings, supported by Paul van Dyk, Judge Jules and Tiesto. The follow up was “Into the night”, which got even more support. After a vocal edit called “Take me away” it became a huge hit around the globe, even now the track can be heard worldwide.
“Diving” and “Let it rain” were the follow ups, and soon the first album was released. After remixing “Summer Sun” they started to work on their second album “Turn it around”. The album was named after the new single which is a remake from Carlo’s former project “Alena”. Carlo also started another project under his own name, with productions like “Remover”, “O’ class”, “Musica”, “Ayers Rock” and “Rise”.
In 2005, 4 Strings released another hit “Sunrise”, this track was the theme of the number one dance music festival in Poland also called Sunrise.
DJ 4 Strings is not just your average DJ, he is an entertainer. He is part of the new generation of DJs today. Crowds are amazed by his refreshing and unique style of playing music. DJ 4 Strings is always prepared with unpredictable and quality tracks that both excite existing fans and bring new people to the scene. There is so much good music out there and 4 Strings do not want to limit themselves to one style. 4 Strings is also in the top 10 for Holland on “The DJ List”.
4 Strings touring diary is incredibly hectic for 2006, with regular stops at major venues in the world. Such as touring the USA, Australia, Mexico, Poland, Asia and Holland just to name a few. 2006 is sure to be a massive year with the release of their brand new track “Hurricane” and also playing at the leading trance party of Holland “Trance Energy” in February. Summer 2006 will also see the first ever unique “4 Strings Live Tour” worldwide. Following the release of their new album this year.
