led sticks r what ur after.. i've used the illumix stix b4.. u can get them at technomoves.. they're not round tho.. it's like someone squished a glowstick if that makes sense.. since ur not stringin w/ em u won't have 2 worry about 'em cracking.. i have 2 say tho i'm not really a fan..

i would maybe look into flowlights.. only ever seen them used poi style, but i bet freehanding w/ them would look pretty sweet..

p.s. welcome 2 gxg!! u should go introduce yourself..

Yeah, I second the flowlights (that's kinda the standard around here recently...LOL)...as far as freehanding goes, you don't have to worry about them being super durable, so you could even do streetlights which are available through technomoves http://www.technomoves.com/streetlights_page.html
Plus, you can get some LED glowsticks at Wal-mart in the flashlight section.
Hope that helps ya.

I'd definitely TRY flowtoys for freehanding because they are the best looking glowsticks with tracers that i have scene, and i freehand pretty fast, so i can get a tracer with regular glowsticks. it'd be nice to be able to slow down so my arms aren't excruciatingly painful the next day. [i'm getting raver muscles, lol] unfortunately, the diameter of the flowlight looks far too thick for the way i prefer to grip my glowsticks. so maybe one day if they come up with something thinner with the same effects, i'll invest in it. for now, i'll just invent my own toy combinations for cool light shows. i like feeling original anyway, and it's cheaper to use 2 88 cent glowsticks and a pack of $4 finger lights then it would be to buy 2 $20 flowlights.

well, what would they be used for?
if it's for actual like exhibition, i guess LEDs
but if it's for training/practice/fun with friends
id recommend the "nightshine pro" sticks
you hold them under light for a while and they'll glow pretty bright
infinite use
they're like 10 bucks each, but I think it's worth it

I bough some battery operated glowsticks from techno moves about a year ago. I found that unless you know what you are doing, in other word your not a beginner go head and buy some.
I was a beginners and found that they are very fragile, i broken with within 20 min of opening the packing. I would wait until you are confident, and can control your sticks.
Normal glowsticks are more durable, and can take a lot more punishment. I consider normal glowstick to be have a thick good quality hook, not the cheap think hooks.

This is my personal opinion of my views and though, of operated glowstick

If someone is interested I can try to post a tutorial about making a glowstick into an LED stick.

Basically you get an old glowstick, cut off the end, empty and clean it out... there are these LED sticks at Walmart in the camping section and I broke the plastic part of that (the tube part) and inserted the LED end light into the empty glowstick tube. It glows really bright and they are durable if you want to use them for poi. So maybe you can do that?

I bought some cheep LED glowstick and when ever i kept on hitting them with something they just simply turned off so i got some clear tape and i wrapped it around them very tightly and then they work just fine altho i do have to say that the baterries become on issue . . . they seem to be a bit to pricy and i dont think they make mini battery charges . . or do they?
in the other hand they are good to practice freehand if you take it very slow i dont recomend them for stinging

My battery opperated glowsticks I got at the dollar store for a dollar each. They're pretty badly beaten up, but still useable. I use them quite often to practice freehand moves. Heheh.
