Default easiest way to learn to do a lightshow - 07-15-08, 10:01 PM

I don't want to do weeks and/or months of training to do a light show such as with glow stringing, it's getting kind of annoying, I'm not making this my job, but just want to have fun.

So my question: Whats the easiest / fastest way to learn to do a cool lightshow with any toy, I saw the LED orbit light shows on rabbitlights.com. Are those the easiest and best looking light shows, or are there any others? Also how long does it take to learn to do them?

Well, I dunno if taking E is what I consider 'good advice.' I will say this....your light show will always reflect what you put into it. If you don't wanna practice, it's probably not gonna be at the level you want it to be. Orbits are pretty easy to work and you should be able to figure out how to work it within a night. Might not be awesome, but there's only so much you can do with em anyway. Freehand sounds like a good option....just grab some LED's/glowsticks and rock out....it doesn't have to look good, just go with the music and feel the flow. It's easy to do a freehand show even if you've never done it before.....but realize, it won't be an 'awesome' show. To achieve any level of skill, you must practice. The sooner you start, the better you'll be at any given time!! My suggestion is (if you're serious about this) to pick up freehanding or even stringing and actually practice....it's hella fun and very rewarding. You won't regret it! Plus, your shows will be WAY better than they would be otherwise. Hey, I know plenty of people with ADD that are good at stringing, so it can't be that bad!

Lightshows aint tough to pull off. But you have to practice a decent amount to reach a good level of it.. Put an hour or so practice in every day or so and ull start to get up there. Just make your own Style dont try and get everything from tutorials.

Yeah..

Honestly, unless you put practice into it, your shows will still be shows, but they won't be that spectacular until you learn the basics and foundations of poi...

YES....TRUTH!!! That's probably the best thing I've read all day! Lots of people just learn moves and imitate other people, but the truly good performers are the ones that make their own shit up.

practice every day, doesn't even have to be with lights. any time you hear music move your arms around to the rhythm as if you had lights, dont need to go fast, just flow through the motions so it stays in your muscle memory, may not seem like you are doing much but it will help, if you wanna work with glowstringing, start spinning your keys around on a lanyard any time you got space, this doesnt look too strange to do in public either as its already a simple habbit alot of people have, but again it will help in the long run
