Default oh $hit!!! - 07-09-08, 03:02 PM

So what has caught my attention the most lately are the teardrop and wonton vids with the finger gloves. Only problem, I can't bring myself to carry that much crap OR to just leave them on and wander around all night.
I've been working on various rigs with my photons and lanyards to try and get a similar effect and had some decent variations on what I typically do. However, nothing close to what I wanted, but growth nonetheless.

I read a couple of general threads this morning and something just hit me upside the head and I tried it out...simple keyring w/a couple photons held in the palm. I can get close to several of the effects I like, only thing is now to keep playing with it and get it cleaner...

I only had 4 photons, so I need to wait until I set up another 4 to get the full effect, but so far, looks pretty damn promising and inconspicuous. Unfortunately, flashy will get you kicked out lots of times or at least told to put away the toys.

I can liquid (um, sort of) in the middle of a crowd with this or give nasty light shows and nobody really needs to know other than whoever is right in front of me...

WOOT!

Yep, I know, simple, but when you've been doing the same thing with the same people for years, the obvious and simple is not so simple and obvious...party on!

is it really that hard to just carry some novas/microlights and a pair of gloves? i mean if your really lazy, you can always do this....

get some velcro, and put it in the opening of the gloves, to make them like a pouch. then the lights wont fall out. then poke a small hole in the glove, and run a small keyring through it. now you have a sealed gloves that carries your lights. get a string or cord, tie a mini clip or one of those carabiner things. and you just leave the string on your neck, and you can hang your gloves to them when you take them off, this way you won't lose anything, and its easy to carry. or maybe tie the string to a belt loop, so you can have them in your pocket and don't need to worry about them falling and losing them.

that's just an idea. for you. and with it comes my very ghetto MSPAINT explanation.

Speedy, you should change your name GhettoFab!!

You know that sounds like a good idea. I was thinking about teh finger lights being a pain, but if I just dump micros into the fingers then all I need to do is slide in the hand and turn them on...

It's not that they are so hard to carry, it's just that there comes a point where it's not worth it to me since I am already carrying a bunch of photons on lanyards. I might have to rig this up and see how it goes...THANKS!

Good idea speedy! I LOVE the diagrammatic explanation....LMFAO. Hilarious! Yeah, after a while, we all end up with bulky full pockets...kinda sucks sometimes. Most local parties I go to, I can just bring a bag with all my stuff and set it aside....people are respectful here and won't steal your shit, so it's never been a huge problem for me. Also, I usually know the people throwing the parties, the DJ's and the door people, so if there is any potential for shadiness, I just ask them if I can put my stuff in a safe place.

My advice is this.....CARGO PANTS!! LOL.

Hey Boi, house parties or events that I used to hit regularly are no problem. I can just load up a pack with whatever light up toys and feel safe that someone will watch out for my stuff. Problem is, those times of regular events with cool people are fewer and farther between. Now I'll end up hitting a larger club where most people think glow-sticking is for A-holes and have their tweaked up heads so far up their sphinchters it almost makes it impossible to spin or do lights at all. Fast and discreet is the way to go.

I still am going to play with the key ring idea, since I can just unlatch from the lanyards, but think it's worth a shot at rigging up the gloves and see how that goes.

my pics are the shit! honestly my idea works, i'm gonna be making mine like this for the next event.so all i got to do is take off the string, open it up, slide my hand in, and ready to go.since all the lights were already in the glove. btw i just meant to leave the lights in the fingers, not like attach it or anything, just a way to use the gloves to hold the lights so you don't lose them.

Speedy - I know what you meant and that's why it made sense to me.

The reason I didn't like the gloves in the first place is picturing someone asking for a light show, then having to wait ten minutes while I got all my shit together...not cool.

With your rig, total wait can't be more than a minute, pretty badass.

BTW, I messed around with rigging two keyrings holding two photons each, per hand, so a total of 4 photons in the palm of my hand. It's def got potential. You can do similar moves to the gloves, but it's a separate vibe altogether. It seems a little redundant right now, as in, I don't feel I have enough moves to make it as entertaining as I'd like, but that will just take some practice.

Thanks for the ghetto hookup, I'll likely order some gloves today so I can play with your setup.

i barely started doing lightshows and its not so bad. when i was walking around edc, i usually kept my gloves on and my lights so people could see. i love giving lightshows so people would just ask me, so i would never take them off really :P
