First Ultras...? -
01-16-08, 07:07 PM
Hey guys, i just got my ultras in today, and i was realllly excited. I waited for them to warm up cause they were cold(Canada :P), and once i cracked them, they were brighter than 12 hour sticks. Unfortunately, one of them didnt light up, even though the class in the tube was intact before i cracked it. So i played with both sticks, 1 lit up and the other not. But what strikes me to be odd is that my stick has been glowing for like over 30 mins, and they still are bright, brighter than a regular 12 hour stick. I really dont think this is normal, but it is my first ultra so erm yeah. Do you guys have any idea what the deal is?

I have had 12 hour sticks glow for like 3 days before. I think it is the amount of chemicals they put in. They can't make every ultra exactly the same, maybe some get a little defective.

Temperature affect how bright and long the glowsticks glow. I had some 5 min white which glowed for 1 hours. It was a very cold day. I have had 8 hour glowsticks glowing for 48 hours, however they were dim

Yeah, cold temperature would slow the reaction down making it slightly less bright and longer lasting. As for the dud...that sucks...maybe it had a really small crack in the glass and it had already leaked out. Other than that, no clue...chemicals degraded, factory misfit? As for the length of time of ultras...they will not just shut off at 5 minutes (or 30 mins for high intensity or 8-12 hrs for regulars)...but instead, will continue to glow for longer with less intensity. Depending on the brand and temperature, they could last slightly or incredibly longer than the duration stated. Plus, if it lasts longer...why complain???

yeah i have noticed with all glowsticks that they are not created equally even with in the same brand that one glowstick will glow brighter or some thing
"I refuse to prove that I exist," says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing."
"But," say Man, "the Babel fish is a dead giveaway, isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don't. QED."
"Oh dear," says God, "I hadn't though of that" and promply vanishes in a puff of logic.
