I have been working on putting all my moves together and practicing with and without music. I like to practice to trance a lot. You know in some songs when the beat dies down and then starts building. Sometimes it lasts for a minute before it builds back to the previous beat. What do you do at this point in the song? I never really know what to do?

During that i wrap the stix up to my hands and bust out some freehand

I am new here so you can totally ignore my post if you want BUT I think during those times I would slow down the spinning and go into a 3-7 beat weave or butterfly because that will correspond with with the music and gives you the flexibility to go into more complicated moves when the beat drops.

I normaly just Start going dramaticly slower but 90% of my stringing is wraps so dunno depends.

I don't string to music too much cause it's not in my driveway, heh. But when I do it's one of Henry Wilson's mixes 2/15/2008 (it's really good and I put it on my phone so I do have music to spin to all the time now). But yeah, the dancing. When the beat slows down I do too, the isolations come out and a lot of turning happens. I think I'm gonna go out and spin now. I think the freehand idea that RWC said is a good one. Especially cause freehand requires that you get into the music.

free hand or like said earlier, weaves. you could go into a 3beat weave and just keep turning around. another option- pick a dif song, lol. i do know exactly what you are talking about tho. on those songs, keep a time in you head and then just keep doing the same thing like a weave or butterflies and vary those, but dont change moves.

trance/electronic/dance/techno- all good choices and all the sub-genres within those are fun to spin to. easiest too in my opinion, but thats just b/c theres usually a constant beat. its good to hear you're spinning to music. i'll expect a video soon!!!

Well, I just kinda go with the flow....I let the music come in my ears and channel it out my arms. Whatever the song does as far as speed/mood/melody, etc I try to augment. Basically, if you can spin without music, it shouldn't be a huge issue. Just spin as you would without music....however, even in a long break down, there is a certain amount of timbre/tone, melody, and therefore, some sort of speed (which you can keep beat to). Just try to keep the beat going that faded out and flow with it....feel the music and channel the energy. Sounds cheesy, but that's what ya gotta do! In the end, just let go, dance with the music and spin that shit!

Ok thanks, I have seen people do cool stuff when it slows down and it looked so smooth, but I don't know what they did. I will have to work on it

LOL...glad you were entertained! That's really what it's all about....everything in the world is just energy. It gets conserved and transitions into different forms, but it's still energy whether it's music (sound energy) or dancing (kinetic energy). Sorry, my philosophy on life is a little like physics class meets acid....LOL.
