Default Help With My Tut - 08-02-08, 06:18 AM

Hey, I've talked a lot of shit about making a tut, and I think I finally want to... It's not really going to be a tut for any specific trick, but more of an intro video for n00bs to get a good idea of how to go about starting, and a few lil tips that I wish someone would've told me when I was a n00b that would've helped me a lot...But anyways, I need help because I was practicing what I'd do and what I'd say, and I got to the point where I started listing a few moves for them to learn, but for some reason my mind is drawing a blank...I got the 3bt weave, butterflies, spirals, wrap combos, dbl bicep wraps... I replied on a thread I can't find earlier, and I had a great list compiled, but I'm drawing blanks, so gimme a few more so I don't only have like 3-5 moves for my list.

so i found a way that really helps people with weaves (2bt--5bt). you're pretty much winding it up on one side, then unwinding it on the other side. if i woulda known that startin out things woulda made more sense to me lol.

heres what id list...

explain planes
forward n reverse spin, together ans split time.
2bt and 3bt weaves f n r
butterflies f n r -- ttn
spirals
simple wraps -- forearm, bicep (over n under) and thigh
corkscrews f n r
winmills f n r
buzzsaws f n r
and last but DEFINATELY not least. transistioning from everything you've demonstrated above. gettin into and out of, going from ___ into ___ ya dig?

I've already made a tutorial for this....Weaves 101...a few extra hints isn't a totally bad idea, though.

I already made one for this too....Airwraps Tutorial.

Here's my two copper Lincolns...to make a successful tutorial you will need: adequate lighting, a poi/glowstick rig that can be clearly seen (strings and ends), stand so they can see the move best along with the hand motions (maybe stand in several positions), slow motion would be helpful if you want to edit, explain everything you are doing clearly and completely, include variations, etc.

Beyond that, are you planning on explaining all these moves or just listing/showing them as potential beginner moves? Cause explaining them fully might take too long to fit into a succinct video, plus many are already covered elsewhere. Try to keep it brief and to the point. Here's some more moves:
2,3 beat weaves forward/reverse
butterfly F/R
corkscrew F/R
windmill F/R
watermill (hip reels) F/R
butterfly hip reels F/R
low turn F/R
high turn F/R
chasing the sun F/R
mexican wave F/R
shoulder reels/butterfly shoulder reels F/R
basic wraps (wrist, arms, biceps, legs, etc)
double wraps (handcuff, spirals, dbl bicep wraps, etc)
buzzsaws F/R

That's a pretty decent list for beginners...I await your tutorial!!

Feel the beat from start to stop, dancin' and groovin' from bottom to top!

man...im a noob...
and u got me into it...
tell them wat u told me...
also remember the weight of ur strings to the glowsticks...
if ur usin Vans laces like me wen u practice use 2 sticks on each string...
its heavy and it hurts but wen u go down to one stick u go fast as HELLL
also...experiment with some moves to find wat ur comfortable with
also remember thumb splitting and link catch XD
hope that helped

The mexican wave is like a windmill, only butterfly. You alternate hands between one in front of your head and one behind your head.
