Default Help a noobie plz - 09-12-08, 04:22 AM

Hey guys this may be a stupid question but i didnt want to go spending money on something without asking the community. I'm looking to buy these LED glowsticks. this is a link to them.

http://yhst-13210512562222.stores.ya...-glowstic.html

But anyway i wanted to remove the tube so that i was left with just the base microlight i guess you can call it. I found it to be cheaper to buy the sticks and just remove the tube myself but have never done it.

Does anybody have experience with this or know how easy it is to actually remove the tube?
Thanks for the help and sry for noob question lol

Oh and btw i was planning on putting the lights in some gloves for some cool light shows like ive been seeing around.

It's not really hard to remove the casing for it, it's just a matter of knowing how to do so, and really the only way to learn is if someone tells or shows you, so not knowing how doesn't make you a noob...

That's first off... But yeah, some led sticks, if you remove the components from their casing they will no longer work, so I can't say whether that's the case for those stix, but it's a possibility.

go to www.rabbitlights.com for all your glow needs...

And the LED stick you were referring to, yes, that's in general what most poi artist use, because they, IMO, look way cooler tracer wise than a normal glowstick, and the strobe mode does and awesome effect, which I call the dot dot dot tracer...

Led Tutorial!!!

Thanks DJSickness for that tutorial of how to make em.

Keep in mind, you'll want to use an actual razorblade versus a kitchen knife, because it may not seem like it, but the cleaner the cuts, the better it works.

you can remove the tube, the part that is lit up. but it takes some care. only do it yourself, if you are not scared to break it. otherwise rabbitlights has them already modded for the use your looking for.

Oh yeah... I looked at it now... You could do it...

But as Speedy said, take care, because the LED component is probably really easy to break, or damage to a point of no longer working...

And one thing, I just want to say...

On that link of the stick, keep in mind the tracer picture, that is NOT what it will look like when you spin it... Like it will, but the tracers when you spin will not be as long as they are in that pic...

They are that long in that pic because of a manual setting on the cam to make it pick up light longer..

Talk to speedy, he schooled me on all the technical shit behind it... Lol..

I did very little research.. and found that the microlight I listed IS that led stick without the stick... rabbitlights.com ALSO sells the stick fully intact.

Wow....Rabbit is getting a LOT of support and recommendation from the community....that's AWESOME (well, she's pretty awesome herself!).

I can't speak of this particular model, but it looks very similar to the ones I've bought at wal-mart before. They have a plastic tube at the end that is glued on to the LED part (which is about 1-1.5" long...the casing is about 5"). The way I remove them is to hold them with two hands right at the part where the case comes together with the base (lol...rhyme). Flex gently like you are cracking a glowstick....but not too hard or it will break. Once you work around the seam in different spots, the glue begins to crack and you can follow the broken glue seam around, cracking every few degrees till it is all broken....then it just slides off. Takes about a minute and is really easy. This model might not be quite the same, but it looks pretty damn similar.
