Default windmill problems - 07-08-08, 02:48 PM

i noticed this today when i was spinning at work- when i go from the 3bt weave to a windmill, i can keep the split time only for a few seconds before it turns into more of a butterfly-ish windmill. any tips on why this is happening or what i can do to fix it? thanks yall!!!

Okay....clarification please: Is it turning into a butterfly-type spin (strings going opposite directions) or is it just going into regular timing.

If the first one is your problem, it's probably some sort of mental block where your mind isn't used to spinning in that position and kinda forces your body to revert to a butterfly motion (which you must be more used to or something). Try doing it one handed a lot in both directions and it should solidify the motions....then try two hands.

If the second option is your problem, try messing with the timing....go into regular timing, then gradually just start spreading the 'beats' your hands make farther apart. In regular timing, your hands will always be near each other on the same sides. However, in split-timing, one will be at the front when the other is at the back.

Good luck with your dilemma, I'm sure it will resolve itself soon....practice practice practice!!

Feel the beat from start to stop, dancin' and groovin' from bottom to top!

yea yea yea.. work on your figure 8 a bit more.. i have the same issues sometimes with windmills/corkscrews.. just practice rolling your hands w/o the strings.. do it in front of you and over your head.. do it with your wrsits together, and then split them apart and try n keep the same motion/timing going.. also, if you can do this in front of a mirror it will help IMMENSELY.. this is something that will come with time.. keep at it it'll come..
