My guess is that you are either doing too many rotations of your strings or not twisting your hands/wrists enough (or maybe not fast enough). My advice (well, other than practicing a ton) is to work on the extra rotation on one side only...whichever is easier. This will result in a 4 beat weave when you come back from the other side 3 beat style. For 5 beat weaves, the first hand to cross over after the twist will be switching to its same side (after twisting on R side, L hand crosses to L side first, R follows). Concentrate on this when 5 beat weaving. On another note, if you keep getting the strings wrapping on your wrists, try learning 5 beat thru-wrap weaves (
Thru-Wrap Tutorial). Once you have the timing down for this sort of weave, then try to hypertwist your wrists when you next attempt the 5 beat weave.....like really over-emphasize the motions. Good luck! This one can be hard to learn, but you'll get it down, soon enough!
