i dont post much but maybe could i get a tutorial on sunwraps?

when you do them, is it just as simple as to make both sticks on 2 seperate planes parallel to your body and just bounce off your biceps keeping them on their planes? it sounds very advanced if it is

holy cow 4 some reason i had something completely different going thru my mind and u've given me an interesting idea but it has nothing 2 do with ur question lol!! this next part has to do w/ ur question....

ok first off, yes 2 planes and yes 2 bicep wraps.. 4 as long as u swing u should be working ur planes.. start ur practice everyday w/ just a basic plane warm up.. i like 2 do it while i'm walking around town.. it's like an obstacle course.. good fun.. anyway, yes, work ur planes..

and of course practice bi-cep wraps.. practice both with ur biceps parallel 2 ur body, and perpendicular 2 ur body.. do this one string at a time, than do both.. play with it.. bicep wraps r fun.. =)

ok, sunwraps.. basically what u said is right.. it is that simple, but easier said than done.. momentum is important to get into/keep this move going so u don't really wanna do this from a stand still.. actually makes it harder imo.. the easiest way in2 this is from the rev butterfly.. or a quick combo of fwd butterfly to moon wrap to sun wrap.. moon wrap being the same as the sun but under ur arms instead of over.. something u can work on when u get sunwraps i suppose.. =)

anyway, there's a small trick here.. the trick is u wanna kind of point ur elbows up a bit, and bring both ur hands back towards u slightly.. this will get both ur hands in line 2 b able 2 wrap ur biceps.. this is gonna take u minute so be patient..

this essentially just requires practice.. ur stix r gonna hit each other a lot at first, but keep at it.. i could do u a vid but honestly i would just be showing u the move.. there's a certain finesse that u just can't show.. practice a bit and if ur still having probs i'll whip somethin out 4 ya, ok?? goin to paul van dyk tomorrow tho so this ain't gonna happen from me any earlier than monday night.. maybe somebody will be nice and do one b4 then.. meantime, just practice.. i bet u'll get it..

Default Sunwraps are cool - 05-18-08, 02:44 AM

I like sunwraps alot, they are a nice transition to different kinds of arm wraps, what are they called when you let them swing under your arms and wrap them in parallel planes that way? (Not that I'm capable of doing it) are those moon wraps??

I call them that (and have been ever since someone posted a thread here suggesting the name, so I may or may not be a co-founder of the name) but as for using them, not so much cause I can't get them to work. thing is, my sun wraps are on and off. sometimes they work, sometimes they don't, sometimes they do but look like shit. my moonwraps rarely work at all and I can't figure out how to fix them.

Yup, sounds like you have the concept down....I would just advise to practice with it. It's not the easiest move, I would consider it an intermediate wrap. Like Jareblue said, the key is momentum....when the strings wrap on either bicep, flip your arms up a lil each time they wrap to get them moving in the opposite direction. I go into these from a forward butterfly....when the sticks are at the top of their paths, move your hands back, while sticking your biceps outward (but horiz.) to catch the glowsticks in a wrap. Sounds like you have the right idea, so just practice, try to keep your planes as straight as you can to avoid tangles. I'd make a tutorial, but I'd just be saying these same things and it sounds like you already can visualize what the move looks like.
