Default more durable glowsticks??? - 04-28-08, 08:27 PM

ive had some troubles with my glowsticks overtime with the hook part breakin off on me. the thinest part's on the hook are about 8mm wide (outside part of the stick) and about 2mm thick at the weakest point. if i do to many wraps the hook breaks on me!!! grrrrr
ive tryed to coat it up with duct tape verticaly then horizontaly but that still broke on me...........any other ideas?

I've only had a problem with one type of hook.

If you can see it there, it's the side hook thats hella thin. I've taped them before and had that work, and I've made a slip around the glow stick and had that help too, but that has also broken on me. If you want to get creative, you might be able to melt some plastic over it to strengthen it. It's a little dangerous (if you're stupid lol) and probably hard to do, but It could help.

If you're using ultra's from GP.com you might want to watch this:

Those are some weird hooks. I have no idea what you can do! lol I'm sorry but thats just bizarre. They don't look weak, but if they break I suppose they are.

Well, I'd recommend threading through the second or third star (BTW those are the weirdest (and possibly the coolest) glowsticks I've ever seen!). Other than the threading, I suggest learning to wrap smoother...you should never break sticks cause of wrapping....no matter the loop (well, alright, some are pretty weak, but the majority are MORE than adequate). Breaking sticks is a signal to you that you aren't doing your wraps correctly...basically you are pulling too hard! Smooth it out, slow it down, don't pull so hard and know how much string to wrap so that you can adequately unwrap them without breaking (practice with old sticks). That's my best advice...

Yeah actually he's right. Try threading it through more than one hole if not just a bottom one. It may be a pain to tie, but as long as the string comes up through the center it shouldn't give you problems.

i finaly found a way to fix up my glowsticks! i was watching some diy tv show and it was something like putting heavy duty fishing line on some fishing pole to make it a bit stronger. i put my lil pea brain to work and made my own lil hook on my glowstick! boooya!
its kinda confusing but if someone wants to know i can explain how
