New Moves! (Maybe?) -
08-03-07, 07:47 PM
Okay, so, I didn't really know where to put this topic as it's a combination of asking a question, a text tutorial, and eventually, it'll contain a video. So I put it here ;p
So, we'll start things off with explanation of the moves.
Basically, for the past couple weeks, I've gotten bored of trying to learn tricks that have already been concieved, and have decided to just mess around. The results of that experiment are a few new takes on a couple of old moves.
The first move I don't even know what to call it lol. Carry over Weaves? Baby Orbitals? Weave Stalls? lol. I'll let you decide, for now on with what it actually is.
Weave Stalls: Basically, to perform the move, you start with a weave (3 beat is fine. Haven't tried it with anything else yet) going in whatever direction you choose (forward works best for me, as my forward weaves are smoother, and in much more control then my reverse ;p.) So, say your doing a forward 3bt weave, and are about to swing the sticks across your body and to the other side (in this case, the left side). However, instead of doing that, you simply leave your hands on the right hand side, allowing the sticks to begin wrapping around each other, in a manner similar to orbitals. Then, with proper timing, you move the still spinning, "Stalled" weave to the other side of your body, allowing each stick to do one bt in Buzzsaw plane for fluidity and to allow the continuance of the spin. Once on the other side of your body the sticks will (hopefully) be spinning still, and begin to unwind, at which point you can continue like a normal weave. Now this move can be done on both sides (from right to left, and vice versa) as well as during a forward or a reverse weave. For me however, it is much easier to do it during a forward weave, when the sticks are beginning to travel from the Right side of your body to the left. That’s it! (not very impressive I know ;p)
The second move uses a Weave Stall (as I'll now be referring to the move, at least until someone tells me it's already been done ;p) to get into the move, but from there things change a little bit.
Orbital Pulse(s): These were a move I had in conception for a long time, but couldn't really begin to try out, as my orbitals sucked XD So, with the improvement of my orbitals, came my ability to let me try them out, and I'm happy to say that I love this move XD. Anyways, onto the description.
So basically you start with a weave, and do a weave stall. The difference is however, that you stop bringing the sticks across your body once their in the buzzsaw plane. Because you went from a weave, directly into a buzzsaw plane spin, you get sticks spinning perpendicular to the strings your holding, AKA. Spinning the exact same way as an orbital. BUT! There is one major difference, when doing a weave stall, the sticks are wrapping around each other near where they are attached to your hands, giving them a wide circle in which they travel. So the whole picture so far, is a full string length orbital going on in buzzsaw plane (meaning long strings are a nono for this move.) Once you've gotten to this point, the orbital part is there, all thats left to do, is create the pulses, aka, start the REAL part of the move. By pulling the strings like you would for an orbital, they increase in speed, and their circle in which they travel is shrunk (as you all know), but when you give slack to the strings, they will extend back out into a wide circle, thus completing one "pulse" of the orbital. So in essence, an Orbital Pulse is an orbital that is getting bigger and smaller in a particular rhythm. Another cool bonus to the move is that Orbital exits still work, along with continuances. Also, you can continue the stall, over to the other side, so you flawlessly (hopefully) transfer from Weave, Stall, Orbital Pulse(s), Stall, Weave In that order. I’ve managed to do two pulses before losing spin, and have only complete the whole cycle mentioned above with one pulse, a couple times before. However, with people like Kael and Furinax who have crazy long orbitals, I don’t think it could become uncommon to see like, 3, 4, 5+ pulses. I’ve found the key to creating sick pulses is SMOOTHNESS, and EQUAL PULLING/SLACKENING of the string on BOTH HANDS. So that basically sums up this move ;p
Thumb Wrap Continuances:These are kinda iffy moves, as I haven’t really found any real use for them, except when doing a Halfwrap to Armtrace transition (it offers some variation.) Basically, these are the same as thumbwraps, except you let the the string continue completely around your thumb, thus lessening the length of the string. I’m still looking into the use of these, and I think they may be similar to 5bt weaves (in terms of the fact, most people wouldn’t notice that you did one, they’re just something to say that you know how to do.)
So, now that the descriptions of all the moves are summed up, I need to ask if any of them have already been created, and if so, what are they actually called XD
But yeah, I’ll make up vids asap, because it’s a lot easier to see them rather then read about them lol.
