Hello all!

I'm Adam, or Azra, as I'm more often known on the internet and in the rave scene. I've been to about 3 proper raves so far, with friends, and its something I couldn't turn away from. These people could do amazing things with the poi (which I'd never heard of at the time) and glowsticks, which I've always had a bit of a weakness for. Glowy things. And the music is always amaing.

Ahem. Anyway, I'm a complete beginner to anything rave. I have what I need for the look and I ordered a poi to be delivered in 2 weeks, so until then I'll be practising using the tuorials in this forum as a guide!

Hopefully I'll get better with practice - Ive tried swinging pois around a few times, the right hand is alright but the left poi always hits my elbow every time, so I'm pretty pathetic as it stands :P

Hey Welcome to the Site! This is a great place to learn all about poi and meet some great people. As far as the non dominant hand thing thats always a prob in learning poi and glowstringing. Just have to work twice as hard with that hand. Hope to chat to you soon!

manchester huh? that's some serious history right there. you should look up violetweasel - she's from manchester and lives in london now - she's a cool chick and has been around the scene since the beginning.

Hm...having looked at the tutorials and not knowing what any of the tricks are, would anyone be able to suggest an order which starts with the easiest first? I'm a little lost. Also, if anyone has any specifics on how to get my left hand to do what I want it to, that would be great :P

start with spinning 101 and basic weaves and butterflies. as far as the left/hand right hand issue, there are TONS of threads on that - just do a search.
