Hey. I'm Becca.
I'm like, completely new to this, and could use some help/advice...
I'm looking to get into the rave scene...and to learn glowstringing (cause its amazing.)
But I want to/need to avoid the whole drug thing.
Tips?

Tutorial Requests and Available Tutorial Index be sure to check that out which there will show you all your glow stringing needs my advice since your a beginner to look into spinning 101 which will show you all the moves you can start off with!

Welcome to GenXGlow! Well, everyone else seemed to have covered the stringing part xD... so I'll touch on the drug thing real quick, then go to bed! =)

It's a stereotype, but one that you do see often at raves. That kid sitting in the corner with huge pupils staring out into the abyss. Or that other kid, freaking out because they're on way too much acid. It happens, but it's avoidable. My advice, don't try something you don't want to. If you truly want to take drugs, then go for it... but educate yourself first. There are plenty of websites out there with tons and tons information about ecstasy and acid (the two most commonly abused drugs at raves).

Knowledge is power!!! (GO SCHOOL HOUSE ROCK! =P) But seriously, don't try something that you've never heard of or don't know what effects it'll have on you. I've only had one person ask me if I wanted drugs at a rave, and it's really easy to say no. More often you'll find people looking for drugs, and they're the kind of kids that give us real ravers a bad name.

hey Becca, welcome to GXG.
even though it is a stereotype that ravers are etards and stuff. but there are definitely a handful. i have no problem with them cause they aren't some kind of moral-less people are anything. a lot of my friends are druggies but they are trustworthy and the best way to stay out of it is probably to have something to keep you occupied. i started droppin' just because i was bored. i don't regretting starting it but i miss full-of-money-wallets. i think you'll turn out just fine with your goal, since you don't want to already! if there's peer-pressure then you shouldn't be hanging out with them if they don't respect you decision.

Welcome to the site, Becca! You've come to the right place to learn glowsticking. We have great tutorials and inspirational videos....not to mention a VERY helpful community. As far as drugs and raves go....it always makes me happy when people are interested in raving but DON'T want to do drugs. Not that drugs are bad....but ravers are frequently stereotyped as druggies, so the more people we have that defy that label will help the scene move beyond it. Welcome to the site....enjoy this place!
