Help!!!

I need a way to record from my mixer. I only have ONE output from the mixer..... It's a numark. I run it to aux in on a home theater system. I run rca from the REC OUT to my computer mic in. I can pick up sound and record but it is way too distorted. I can also only record for 1 minute with free version of cool edit. PLEASE PLEASE help..... Ablist tried and tried and tried.... here is the link where he was trying to help. RECORD

I'm still a noob and all, but I have so much cool shit i wanted to at least give you guys a sample!

ALSO I USE WINDOWS. I KNOW IT SUCKS COMPARED TO A MAC..... BUT I CAN'T AFFORD ANY MORE NEW SHIT RIGHT NOW! ALSO IT'S VISTA, WHICH MAKES IT THAT MUCH WORSE

I wonder if your distortion is coming from the fact that you're trying to run an already amplified sound through a mic jack. When you put the sound into your home theatre system, it's amplifying it...mic jacks (or at least the ones on my computer) aren't made to handle the amount of signal that is carried by an amplified wave. can you try either using an RCA to mini cable and running straight to your mic jack from your mixer?

Also - as far as recording goes - I have been recording on PC for years and I'm very happy with it. See if you can scrounge up either nero or adobe audition...if you can't let me know and I'll see if I can find something for you.

YEAH... I tried the mixer straight to the mic jack....
stilll distorted. Im VERY FRUSTRATED. time to pack a bowl! My friend is on his way over, he "says" he has a solution...... the thing is, I'm NOT computer illiterate..... or sound illiterate for that matter.... I just cant get it to work. I have tried adjusting the master and gain from the mixer, the volume for mic AND playback, and in the program. still gettin nothin but distortion! I CAN hear the music but it sounds ugly.

I have had this issue when ripping vinyl down to my harddrive (I keep the vinyl, but the hard drive is easier to travel)...I'm trying to remember how I fixed it...

LOL I already told Jare when he take the road trip he has a place in NC to stay as long as he/ ya'll want! (meaning your own bed/ room)
