How about that shit? Girlfriend's sister's friend gets her ticket swooped and I go to get it back only to get jumped by 6 cholos, who thankfully could not fight for their lives and managed only to give me a bump on the back of my head and minimal swelling on my eyebrow after a good minute of punches from every direction. My girlfriend pulled some kid off of me who was punching me....in the back? pleasssse kids After successfully not getting her ticket back I bought her another one, since I was the only one with money on me, and she was ungrateful, never said thanks, and is complaining to the sister about paying me back because she shouldn't have to "I shouldn't have to pay him back because my ticket got stolen blah blah" This kind of shit is getting too out of hand |

could you elaborate more? You said kids, are they a random group of ruffians or something? Are you saying this firend of your girl friend's sister is unappreciative of your attempt to get her ticket back? I think thats something better left for the girls to handle, don't get involved with the drama and stuff, believe me your better off. also, I think a congrats is in order, you sound like you handled yourself relatively nicely. You should have done some real damage to like one of them, teach them a lesson (a broken arm is a lesson that lasts a while.) Did you report to some authoritieswhile you were there? Its good for the security guys to know to be wary and aware, if not them tell the organizer or something. Sorry man, times are tough and alot of people think the only way to proove them selves is by being violent or something. They were probably kids that were trying to be gangsta or something. Take care of yourself and be PLUR about handleing the situation with the friend. Be grateful that they didn't take your wallet or something like that and becareful next time. Everyone needs to be careful always. |

Wow. Sucks that she would have to 'pay you back' but at the same time why would it be your responsibility to buy her a 2nd ticket? Oh yea, cuz she has a vagina. Sorry, don't mean to offend you or anything... I just don't understand why she would be ungrateful, whether you asked her to pay her back or not... Or whether it was even discussed between the two of you or not, she should still be grateful! Maybe it was YOUR fault she got her ticket stolen? Oh wait, or was it your fault that you went to stand up for her, and failed to come on top of 6 other guys, regardless of their ability to fight. Hopefully she was just PMSing and/or was upset. Cuz if this is a regular thing of hers, imagine how much worse it'll be if you marry her down the road. Careful! This is a BIG reason I make sure to keep my ticket out of sight. I've always imagined someone walking by, snatching it, and running over to his friends who will back him up. Sorry to hear all of this. Maybe this is proof that SoCal raves really do suck. I've never had a problem like this happen to myself yet, nor have I seen anything happen (aside from a fight I walked into at Nocturnal, two guys drunk off their asses, one of them probably touched the others girl's butt or something lol). |

Wow, what the hell? I was just going to say temp said, but he beat me to the chase. "Maybe it was YOUR fault she got her ticket stolen? Oh wait, or was it your fault that you went to stand up for her, and failed to come on top of 6 other guys, regardless of their ability to fight." That is just ridiculous. Seems like someone is a bit of a snob sigh. Honestly, though, for her own good she should realize that she should pay you back. That actually kind of made me mad too lol. Sorry to hear that shit happen ______________________ LOVE ME! |

I don't mean to say I told you so or anything but.... monster blows ass. Sketchy ass people and general lack of plur contribute to it being the dirtiest rave of the year. I found more PLUR at Hard haunted mansion then I found at monster last year, and hard is a concert/club event. Embarrassing for the rave scene. Hard was great, good production, good music, suprise DJs were Daedalus friday and 2manydjs / Deadmau5 saturday. Great music . Jaxx killed it. I am sorry to hear about Monster blowing but next year go hard, you won't regret it. <3 |

LMFAO....I'm not even gonna touch this one. Yeah, you definitely have to keep an eye out for anything/everything at large parties...especially CA massives. Pretty much every testimonial I've heard from people here on the site about CA massives involves at least some (mild to WILD) negative portion or shadiness....sometimes very terrible/shocking things (like people getting molested, jumped, fights and girls peeing on the dancefloor). I still don't like big parties for all the douches they bring in...definitely not the vibe that raves were meant to give off. ______________________ Feel the beat from start to stop, dancin' and groovin' from bottom to top!www.myspace.com/lilraverboi www.youtube.com/lilraverboi308 lilraverboi@genxglow.com Use my HOP discount code 'lilraverboi' for 15% off all merchandise at Home of Poi! |

EDC reps the girls peeing on the dance floor. Monster reps the jumping. TAO reps the molestation and Nocturnal reps the fights. ![]() |

Yeah....no thanks, no thanks, no thanks and...oh yeah, no thanks! And forgot to say before...super glad you're okay and weren't hurt badly. Sorry to hear that stupid ruffians had to mess up your day. And I'm kinda appalled that that girl didn't even show any appreciation for you trying to get her ticket back (at risk of serious physical harm to yourself) then buying her a new one! What ever happened to PLUR...do people still live by this in CA? I know I do. |

Exactly, so I did my deed and she didn't say thank you... and when my girlfriend's sister was asking her to throw in some money so everyone could spot me back at least some of the 80 dollars I spent, she was a total ungrateful bitch. Why should she be called an ungrateful bitch? Sure it's my fault for throwing myself out there, maybe chivalry really should be dead, but how could you possibly watch and a stranger stand up for you, get jumped for you, and then spend money on you so you could have a good time, and then forget it all happened? Def. sounds like perfect reasoning to call someone a bitch. Some drunk fool shoved my girlfriend and I at nocturnal too and when I told him to watch out I was immediatley confronted by him and his friend, though I was with a grip of guys and we probably would have stomped his face into the ground if he didn't decide it was a bad idea after all. Drunk people -__- And I def. agree that the girl was an idiot for holding her ticket so plain in sight. But ya, to avoid the confusion, there wasn't anything between my girlfriend and I, she was a little upset that her sister's friend was such a flaming pocket of piss as well. Oh well. TAO '10 |

I havent been to a rave since EDC, and well in my past experiences i have seen some negatives and some positives. But negatives are never good, but PLUR here in socal is such a fad. Its like the "new thing" for most people and well they dont really live by it. Some of the ppl in the scene seem to think they know what PLUR is, but dont live by it. I myself dont really do the whole PLUR thing, well becuase it just never attracted me....nevertheless, socal scene is getting bigger but worse vibes by the rave...its finaly starting to irritate me after 15 months.....just my .02 cents... |

Exactly why I didn't go last year, nor this one... Same with Hard. I've heard horrible things about both. And I especially don't feel like walking around such a huge event where everyone is wearing costumes, masks, etc... Not like that anyway. And WTF? Girls peeing on the dance floor at EDC? ROFL!!! omg, funny i haven't heard that one. Nocturnal however, I walked straight into a fight, or rather it broke out about 2 feet in front of me. Everyone in the immediate area jumped back, then people started jumping in pulling them apart from one another. I could tell they were drunk off their ass... Seriously, alcohol shouldn't be served at these events LOL. And TAO is known for molestation? Eek. I was actually looking forward to that one this year. But hey just gotta keep a positive attitude right? |

thedudersdude08 wrote... I myself dont really do the whole PLUR thing, well becuase it just never attracted me.... Okay, maybe I'm just old school, but how can you be a raver and NOT live by PLUR? Cause in my world that was one of the first things you are taught when you get into the scene....and pretty much a requirement of the general social demeanor at a rave (and it's encouraged that you apply it to ALL of your life as well). No offense dude, but all PLUR really means is that you are being a good person, loving those around you, respecting them, etc. How can these things 'not attract you?' The four tenents of PLUR are just simple things we should all be taught to do as a child....it's not like it's anything drastic...it's basically just the barest level of being a good person. I really don't understand why anyone would NOT WANT to live by PLUR. Saying PLUR 'isn't your thing' to me is just saying you have no desire to be a good person. Just to clarify, this is not meant to be a personal attack....just a general question to you and everyone else as well. Around here, if you're being excessively rude/disrespectful or starting fights at a party, you are asked to leave (or not let in in the first place...ROAR...right of admission refusal) so basically you abide by PLUR or you get kicked out. And trust me, this isn't something drastic/bizarre that we do in the midwest....if you are starting fights at ANY BAR/VENUE/BUSINESS (not at a rave...just in general) you will be asked to leave. I don't understand why these things would EVER be tolerated at a party. Anywhere I've ever been, if you start a fight, you get kicked out...plain and simple. Abiding by PLUR really should NEVER be a huge deal...it's not like it's asking you to do anything above and beyond....just generally be nice to people. |

My guess he's a Junglist from the SoCal area! hahaha jk dunno In my area, PLUR has become more of a slogan much like someone would say 'PEACE' as they are leaving their friends. These people claim to live by PLUR, and then use others on a continual basis and always expect more out of them the next time. These sorts of things have driven a lot of us away from using the phrase in general... But Bryan is right, it is a simple way of life and being a good person. To tell you the truth, I think Respect in general is all you need... Everything else follows if the new friendship/relationship deserves it. Sure raves are about Unity, however that is only achieved when EVERY person is a part of it. Around here in the SoCal area, not EVERYONE is as friendly as you'd hope, and the media has attracted a lot of people you wouldn't want at such events. All well, you make the best of it. But I guess my personal stance on PLUR is more of a slogan. You are who you are at heart, and pretending to be something else doesn't make you someone new. Using a new slogan and putting on a happy face only makes others think you are something great until they see who you truly are... It either IS who you are, or it isn't. Most people don't 'become' PLUR. I do believe in it however, only because of the smaller number of people in my area who do. I believe in it because of them and for them. Otherwise I try to be kind to people because I expect them to be the same to me. |

People claiming this think they are plur, but when i see the other side, it makes them look bad and represents the whole PLUR idea wrong. And well the rave scene has changed, and well i didnt know there was some kind of PLUR requirement to be a raver. I thought being a raver was just about having a good time and enjoying music with friends. It never really attracted me partly becuase i attend raves to have a good time and enjoy music with my friends. that all there was to it for me.... |

Look man alot of women are unappreciative to everything we men like to do for them. I am not profiling all women but the majority always want something or just don't care man. Not until recently have i started to notice the dumb shit beautiful women do to get what the want. I'm over it and not gonna put up with it. ~uniden~ |

My main point was just that PLUR is simply the barest level of being a good person. If you're a good person, you are VERY likely already peaceful toward people (doesn't mean pacifism), loving of others, are accepting of others and respectful of others. I could care less whether you 'claim to live by PLUR' or you go around saying it all the time....that's not the issue. The issue is that you're trying to be a good person. If you are a good person, you are very likely already living by PLUR whether you profess it or not. Saying such things 'aren't your thing' is essentially saying you're okay with being a violent, hateful, discriminating, disrespectful person....don't know that most people would willingly be okay saying that. The rave scene was built on the precepts of not only electronic music and having fun, but also (and more importantly) freedom of expression, radical acceptance, radical inclusion and respecting others. Without those last things, you get a party purely lacking in positive vibes. Just a bunch of people listening to EDM and having fun (in any way they want regardless of its effect on others) opens the door for lots of negativity....and this is clearly evident in the CA scene. I hate people trying to say that 'the scene has changed.' What they really should be saying is that the scene has gone mainstream in certain areas (mainly CA but to a lesser extent CO) and forgotten its roots. Saying simply that 'the scene has changed' just accepts that it's gone to shit and doesn't even attempt to improve it. If you allow this attitude to prevail, it's not ever gonna get any better (and likely will continue to decline), whereas if you work to improve it, it very likely will get better. Realize also that having areas with lots of negativity in the scene reflects negatively on ALL RAVERS. Sorry for the rant...I'm just really passionate about the rave scene having some emotion/meaning behind it. Otherwise if it's just people having fun listening to EDM, the culture is essentially a cold, dead, empty shell. Come on people....the rave scene always WAS a lot more than just music and fun.....so let's keep it that way! |

I'm def. all for the PLUR; always respect others around and whatnot, but if you take a good look around at, maybe just at these massives and stuff like that, the kids that rep plur the most are the ones who are always under the influence, or always have to be to show it, and when they rep it, it's more of a let's-lay-around-in-circles-petting-fuzzy-stuffed-animals-while-under-the-influence-of-god-knows-what type of thing rather than something with emotional backing or meaning to it being the backbone of the scene. It's there, don't get me wrong, but it's definitely just being given this notion of what I said |

Hey - can we keep the girl bashing down to a minimum in here? Cause we aren't all manipulative and horrible...in fact, I'm gonna be the girl helping you throw gear and making sure you're ok when you don't feel well or got something to eat on a three day campout party. Specific complaints about an individual are one thing, but the general "girls suck" commetns really make me sad. Please don't judge the rest of the scene (even the west coast scene - I live in oregon) by the SoCal massives...you want to see PLUR in action, come up and hang out with the kids in Portland. We'd be happy to have you, all of you The more I hear about the SoCal scene as a whole, the less inclination I have to ever visit there. I know that there are some amazing people down there...but I have no desire to deal with the drama that always seems to be going on. I'm sorry that you got jumped at what should have been a nice time, and I'm sorry that the girl you were with behaved so badly towards you and the rest of the people you were with. I'm glad that you stood up for her, even if she was horrible to you after the fact. Maybe your actions will make an impression and she'll start to reconsider how she treats other people...I can hope. ______________________ "I tell you: one must still have chaos in oneself to give birth to a dancing star.
