Global Dance festival 2008 -

Alright I promised a review and now I've got some time to write one.
Overall i had an amazing night, and I rave sober so this review probably wont be too deluded.
Also, I wasn't too informed on the music on the second stage, but I'll write what I observed.
Alright here we go.
Entering: Me and my friends got there about two hours before it opened to be close to the front of the line, it was incredibly hot but the staff was helpful and handed out umbrellas to those of us who had been there for a while. Around 4:50 or so the let us go up to the security area, we waited about fifteen minutes there until they started letting people in, as far as security goes, there was none. I could have had a gun and a kilo of cocaine on me and they wouldn't have known, they checked tickets and let us in without a second glance. Though I did hear it got more secure later on, maybe they were just nice to those of us who waited in the heat for that long. So the music started playing on the first stage local big names Dj Dragon and Dj Trajikk spinning a dual set, it was one of both of their bests in my opinion, they had to play first so it wasn't dark at all, but I guess the night time was reserved for the big names. The place filled up pretty quickly, within the and hour of being inside there was virtually no room to spin, though you could still freehand and dance pretty easily.
Music: At 6:00 Dj Kostas came on, also a local. In my opinion, and that of several people I spoke to, he had no idea what he was doing. From the songs i recognized he didn't edit at all, he seemed to just be turning on records. That was kind of disappointing. Regardless, the crowd was getting into it and he did manage to get us all excited for the next dj. Steve smooth was on from 7:00 to 8:00 He was actually pretty good, I haven't liked many of his other sets but this was one was fun. He played a lot of covers of familiar songs and really got everyone jumping, and let me tell you, from the front row of red rocks, seeing everyone above you jumping up and down with their hands in the air is an amazing sight. I was really happy with him, he seemed to get the rave and plur vibe out to the entire crowd. Next up was dieselboy with J Messinian. This was amazing, very very high energy. The hardcore drum and bass style came out almost sounding like a rock concert at first, It took all I had to stop myself from starting a moshpit. This was, in m,y opinion, the first really amazing performance of the night. Everyone seemed really pumped up and ready to dance, and that was a good thing because just as this set was ending the sun was going down. At 9:00 Junkie XL came on. This was, to me, and intermediate set, he definitely knew what he was doing and played some great music, but it just wasnt my style. I did see a lot of people really liking it though, many a great lightshow could be seen throughout the crowd, so I know if I was a Junkie XL junkie(haha?) I would have really enjoyed this. Next up was DeadMau5. Now this was amazing, by far my favorite performance of the night, his set was groundbreaking. A lot of people seemed unhappy because he played very calm, soothing techno, but I thought it was amazing, incredibly melodic, the kind of music that can stop you mid dance step and make you really appreciate the rave scene and the music and the skill it takes to make such a beautiful sound. And last up from 11:30 to 1:30 was Ferry Corsten, who played as amazingly as Ive ever seen him play. Even though he was the last dj of the night he got the crowd into such a frenzy you would think they could have gone on for ten more hours when he was done.
Lights; The lightshows they gave us were, in my opinion, below par. They were nice for a minute or so, but very repetitive and stayed the same pretty much all night, other than the dj's name showing up now and then. But I've gotta say, once night fell looking ove rthe crowd was the most amazing lightshow, all of redrocks lit up by thousands upon thousands of glowsticks, it was quite a sight.
Performance: The Dj's all seemed really into their music and put on a great show for everyone. The dancers were all really talented as well. they all seemed really into the music and definitely drew some attention away from the less than satisfactory lights.
My personal experience: I had a great time. It was fuckin hot waiting and fairly hot until the sun went down. I saw a lot of people I haven't seen in a long time which was great. Unfortunately I copied Jareds number down wrong, sooo I couldnt get ahold of him. That and climinbing the stairs was real hard on my smokers lungs, but it wasn't too bad since I stayed in the front for most of the party. Also Unfortunately, me and my girlfriend both started feeling like shit shortly after it got dark, realizing that neither of us had eaten in like two days. But after sitting out for a while and looking over the lit up crowd, we got back into the party and enjoyed the rest of it thoroughly.
Overall this was an amazing party, third time in a row going and itsa teh best one yet. Much love to all of you and all of the ravers in denver
mm, that came out really long.
Disclaimer: Everything i say is wrong. I like to argue because I think it's dumb to watch everything you say because you're scared of offending someone who's over-sensitive. I'm very sarcastic, people tend to take offense quickly to random things I say, I have a sense of humor and I apologize for it.
Happy?
