question about hyperloops... -

i feel i have the right form down, the motions feel right however when i pull it doesn't seem to slide together very well, I don't know if this could have anything to do with the material of the socks causing too much grip, or if maybe its my form...

if youre using regular socks (as i usually do) the friction does become an issue. i can usually only get the one or two momentum driven buzzsaw revolutions and dont try for anything orbital-esque. if youre interested in pulling them off with more consistancy you shuld consider switching to a different material thats more synthetic along the lines of spandex. if nothing else you want something a little stretchy so the sock thins out as the hyperloop stretchs it thus also creating less friction (or at least that's been my experience). ultimately it comes down to the elasticity and surface friction of the material though. hope that helps.

Well, ultimately, you should be able to do them with any medium.....HOWEVER, some will be easier than others. I cannot speak as to the ease of learning on any medium since I cannot really do them well with any toy....but good luck!

Ive come to notice it has alot to do with the weight and friction of my sock poi, I just got back from mexico and while there I found some great LED toys to practice poi with and spent alot of time working on my hyper loops, this quickly became apparent that it was a little bit of my technique yet also the poi I had been using, Im still practicing, but my loops are improving, thanx for the help everyone

I have a pair of thicker socks i can only get two rotations with but i have a pair of pantyhose that i can hold in an orbital for a long time, i might suggest using a thinner material?, it might also be you just haven't found that sweet spot yet, in that case practice makes poifect.

yea find that sweet spot. i got some flatknit socks .. i made when i was workin at the sock mill lol.. ironic eh? and they work fine. at first i thought it was the thickness but it wasnt at all.
i found that hyperloops are alot like barrel rolls.. if you can do a barrel roll you can do a hyperloop IMO. once again, IMO, its the same concept except the strings are catchin instead of "thru-wrapping" so to say on your arms.

Hyperloops seem to be much harder with sock poi since they are all fat where you tangle the poi. I can do hyperloops fairly well with my fire poi but I can't do them at all with my sock poi.
