Miami Music Gear Review Vol.1 Mackie Thump TH-15A
From the poolside parties of WMC to the massive events held throughout march in Miami. The Mackie Thump TH-15A's have quickly become the monitor of choice for many
of todays live audio and sound engineers.
The month of March is a hectic time for the promoters and sound guys in Miami with all the events that are lined up from year to year. Everyone in the live sound business is
continuously looking for reliable and lighter gear to incorporate with their live sound rig. Rarely can you find something that is solid and going to preform for hours on end without issues of over heating and or damage to the gear. Mackie has been a leading company in live sound for two decades now. After many years of lugging heavy monitors to events, Mackie has designed the new Thump TH-15A to make things a lot more simple and easier for everyone.
Designed by the same team that produced the best-selling Mackie SRM450v2, the Mackie Thump Series Powered Loudspeakers deliver deep low-end and real power in a lightweight design that is extremely portable. Class-D Fast Recovery™ amplification pushes unmatched power to the high-frequency compression driver and bass-pounding high-output woofer. Plus, Mackie Active processing, including a precision crossover and driver time-alignment provides total optimization for maximum system efficiency. Versatile by design, Thump loudspeakers can be pole-mounted or used as a wedge, the Thump Series loudspeakers represent the best value available for a complete stage solution.
The Mackie Thump TH-15A monitors are one of the most dependable monitors I have personally seen in a long time. The performance of the Mackie Thump TH-15A is superior to most monitors that are available today. Loads of bass from a personal monitor, and punchy high's are few are far between with any monitor. Yet the Mackie has gone over the top with the quality build of the TH-15A's. Tough, impact-resistant polypropylene enclosure makes these monitors ready for travel and to be put through the wear and tear that comes with the everyday loading and unloading at events. Also the polypropylene enclosure is not only reinforced, but also insanely light weight (Only 36 pounds). The name Thump in the title is not to be taken lightly. With an amazing frequency response of 40hz-20khz the Mackie Thump TH-15A will reproduce your music as accurately with the sound that we all are looking for. Full, rich and thick bass that is vital to any preforming artist or dj.
The Mackie Thump TH-15A comes loaded with a 15 inch low frequency driver (hints the model number), along with an 1 inch compression driver for the high end frequencies. Powered by an 400 watt class D amp that provides more than enough to keep everything sounding crisp and full of bass. The enclosure has a Ported, bass reflex design to enhanced bass performance. There are also dual handles covenantally located on the side and op of the unit. Around the back of the Mackie Thump TH-15A is the control panel. From there you will find a XLR input and XLR (thru) output for chaining them together. The equalizer is pretty standard. Lows, mids, and Highs (3 band) along with the gain knobs which are all vertical in order just above the XLR input.
With a MSRP at 299 dollars the Mackie Thump TH-15A is a good value for name brand quality that will come though time and time again. Below you can find the full specifications for the Mackie Thump TH-15A monitor.
